“I believe deeply in the Club’s mission of serving the New York City community. This year’s theme, ‘Challenging the Status Quo,’ was a way to recognize leadership in difficult times, something that all of our honorees helped to punctuate,” Ann Sarnoff (MBA ‘87). It was a privilege to have Ann serve as Dinner Chair for the Club’s 55th Annual Leadership Dinner that supports the Club’s various programs, pro bono consulting and HBS scholarships. The well-respected entertainment industry executive has over 30 years of experience at companies such as Warner Brothers, Viacom, the BBC, and Dow Jones. She made history at Warner Brothers when she became the first female Chair & CEO of a major studio. Join us in recognizing Ilana Weinstein (MBA ‘95), who was presented with the Club’s 2024 Entrepreneurship Award at our 55th Annual Leadership Dinner on May 16th. Weinstein is the founder and CEO of The IDW Group LLC, a New York City based search firm that is a leading boutique for hedge fund managers, asset managers, private equity firms, and family offices in search of top investment talent. The Wall Street Journal called her “one of the most powerful women in hedge funds.” Her company was even the subject of a Harvard Business School case study in honor of its 20th Anniversary. “In receiving this award I thought about what entrepreneurship means. I think the definition is broader than starting a company or a business,” stated Weinstein. “It cuts to the quick of who we are as individuals, what we stand for, and having the guts to chart our own course in life, even if that’s uncomfortable.” It was our honor to recognize Ilana for her incredible achievements. Special thanks to Steven A. Cohen, Chairman & CEO of Point72 and Owner, NY Mets, for his fantastic introduction. We had an outstanding turnout on June 24th for our panel discussion about the worth of art. Guests were treated to excellent insights regarding younger generations collecting as an investment, future art trading systems and the potential impact of AI, and why collectors are still motivated to experience art in their homes despite the value being more protected in a freeport. A tremendous thank you to Anne-Laure Allehaut, ARTURO CIFUENTES, Eliza Cuddy, Rebecca L. Fine, David Norman, and Elizabeth von Habsburg for their contributions. Thanks also to Viktoria Prigarina for guiding this conversation and to Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP for hosting and sponsoring a great event.
