Several HASI team members braved the summer heat wave this week to volunteer at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Maryland Oyster Restoration Center in Shady Side, Maryland. The team filled tanks with oyster bags and prepared ropes and nets for future participants of CBF’s Oyster Gardening Program, which gives local Marylanders the opportunity to help restore the Bay’s Oyster population. Thank you to our partners at CBF for giving us the opportunity to learn more about the essential role these natural filters play in improving the Bay's water quality and increasing its economic viability.

Community solar is delivering on its promise of expanding access to low-cost, clean power. ☀️ A new study by Berkeley Lab and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory finds that #CommunitySolar is making renewable power more available to those who live in rentals and multifamily buildings, all while reducing their electric bills.

This week, a group of our dedicated HASI crew rolled up their sleeves for a rewarding volunteer day at Quiet Waters Park, a beautiful 340-acre sanctuary for both visitors and wildlife, not far from our HQ in Annapolis. They tackled the invasive Asiatic Bittersweet vines, which choke the life out of trees by blocking their nutrient and water flows. Big thanks to Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks for giving us the chance to connect together outside and play a part in restoring the park's natural balance.

This #PrideMonth, we join our LGBTQ+ colleagues and friends in celebrating the progress they’ve made towards equality, while acknowledging both the obstacles the community still faces and the critical work that remains to be done to build a safer and more accepting world. This weekend, our incredible employees once again took part in the Annapolis Pride Parade to show our solidarity and support of this important work. Thank you to everyone who made this event special, especially the HASI Q+ Business Resource Group, a team dedicated to empowering members of the LGBTQ+ community and its allies, promoting the community’s advancement at all levels. #PrideMonth
