Marketing & Communications Director, HIV.gov | Senior Communications Manager at ICF Next | HIV Advocate
It was a joy and a privilege to help lead the BETAH Associates, Inc. (prime)/ICF (sub) team that supported the Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy at #AIDS2024. We helped amplify key messages from OIDP and their federal partners about the need to dismantle inequities, scale up U=U, address HIV criminalization laws, increase bi-directional learning, use HIV networks to address intersecting diseases such as syphilis, engage and listen to the community at all parts of the HIV response.

Sunday is World Nature Conservation Day—an annual event that underscores the need to preserve the environment for future generations. California’s Santa Clara Valley—located just south of Silicon Valley—faces many conservation challenges shared with many locations around the world: expanding urban development, the loss of native habitats and special status species, and invasive species. For almost 20 years, our environment experts have been working with local agencies like the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Agency and other stakeholders to address the impacts of public and private projects on endangered and threatened species and their habitats. Prepared by ICF, the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Plan (a federal habitat conservation plan and California natural community conservation plan) balances economic development with nature conservation. The plan provides a streamlined approach for addressing regulated impacts to listed species and their habitats, including aquatic resources. Impacts are mitigated by creating an almost 46,500-acre reserve system designed to protect landscape connectivity and biological diversity across the region. Swipe to see some photos of the beautiful habitats they’re working hard to protect.
