Let's talk reliability of BESS system operation: i.e. staying online even while there are grid disturbances. IBRs - or Inverter-Based Resources - such as solar and energy storage power plants rely on inverters to transform DC into AC, hence the name. As Ryuta Ray Saka, VP of Business Strategy and Services and an inverter expert, explains in this blog post, the latest report by NERC shows that IBRs haven't sailed through disturbances as project designers, operators and the grid need and wish them to do. As the energy storage market expands to make up a bigger portion of the renewable energy ecosystem, IBRs have to perform Fault Ride Through (FRT). But how? IHI Terrasun is proud to announce that Kenshi Suzuki has been named President of the company. Kenshi brings to the role more than two decades of experience in engineering, power systems, legal, sales, and leadership positions. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Finance and Corporate Engagement at IHI Terrasun, building close engagement between IHI Corporation, IHI Terrasun's parent company, and the quickly evolving, expanding, and developing work in energy storage integration, software and services done at IHI Terrasun. “It is an honor and privilege to serve as President of IHI Terrasun,” said Kenshi Suzuki. “I’m looking forward to continuing my path alongside a talented group of leaders to deliver the best energy storage software and services to our partners to help grow the renewable energy industry.” Kenshi will focus on expanding the services that IHI Terrasun offers to energy storage developers and utilities. Mariko brings a diverse set of skills to our Finance & Corporate Engagement team where she will be working on day-to-day operations of the group's financial and accounting activities for our utility-scale storage projects. She is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University with a Bachelor of Science in International Business and has more than 10 years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant.
