🚀 Design Your World Chicago students are on an exciting journey! Here’s a highlight of what our talented teens have experienced over the past few days: 🌐 The Design Adventures continue! Our students met with the shining Susan Sienkowski, with Sherwin-Williams Paints, Stains, Colors & Supplies about how color, finishes, and products make a space. They also got an insiders peek of the Columbia College Chicago Student Center, guided by Scott Hurst and Kimberly Zeiser from Gensler the brilliant minds behind the design! They also visited the iconic Wrigley Building and explored the Perkins&Will office, where our instructors Davey and Chelsea shared their insights. Our students also received an inspiring tour of Gensler’s downtown Chicago office. The students were introduced to various company programs, including: 📜 A captivating history of Gensler by Hao Phung. 🌍 A thought-provoking DEI discussion by executive Jason Pugh, highlighting its significance in the design community. 📊 An impactful presentation by Erica Fuentes, underscoring the importance of DEI and programs like Design Your World in driving positive change. Next, the students visited Mannington Commercial showroom at the Merchandise Mart. Arielle Heneghan led a lively discussion on the diverse paths design can take. She shared personal experiences, emphasizing the power of harnessing one’s strengths for success. The students also learned about various flooring types and the importance of thoughtful design choices. Stay tuned for more updates on their incredible progress and their inspiring presentations at the end of the week! ✨ #IIDA #DYWChicago #DesignEducation #FutureDesigners
