This year features Innovative Housing Showcase Educational Sessions happening Thursday and Friday June 6-7 from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM EST. As a part of the session on “Innovation in Resilient Design and Financing and Scaling Innovation” (June 7th 3:00 PM), I’ll be giving a lightning talk on Kit Switch’s alignment between climate and housing action, leveraging construction innovation to renovate our existing building stock at scale. After showcasing Kit Switch on the National Mall last year, I feel honored to join again as a speaker for this year’s educational talks and look forward to sessions organized by none other than the Terner Center for Housing Innovation, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Ivory Innovations, National Multifamily Housing Council, MOD X, International Code Council, Manufactured Housing Institute, and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). ✨ "All great achievements require time" - Maya Angelou ✨ In Spring 2021, we learnt about the Housing Venture Lab and applied for the first time. We were pre-incorporation. We had some early traction and big plans. In Spring 2022, we reapplied to the Housing Venture Lab. This time, we had prospective customers, prototypes under our belt, a manufacturing partner to work with, and an early-adopter offering us space to install our first products. In Spring 2023, we were accepted into the Housing Venture Lab. We had delivered several successful pilot programs. We were ready for their support - ready to scale our solution and #impact. Here we are. It's Spring 2024. We have been backed by great mentors and get to tell our story of how modular interiors can reinvent #construction for both our new and existing buildings. We are scaling our team and operations to deliver on multifamily projects. Follow us to stay updated. Three weeks ago it was SF Climate Week. To close this week full of events, Kris Licciardello came to our office on Pier 9. Kris is Senior Program Manager at SecondMuse, administering the Scale For ClimateTech program we joined earlier this year. We walked her through our product design and process innovation, and discussed how Kit Switch can directly contribute to meeting NYS climate goals as it relates to building #electrification and energy efficiency, affordable and sustainable housing, #embodiedcarbon reduction, and #wastereduction. It’s already been a pleasure being part of this program where both advisors and program managers have shared a wealth of knowledge with us. In the coming 6 months of programming, we will focus on proving our manufacturing production management process and deliver our first multi-unit projects! Stay tuned.

After nearly three years of Autodesk Technology Centers community lunches, it was a joy to be part of the lunchtime entertainment with our recent lightning talk on how productized components like Kit Switch can help unlock construction affordability, predictability, and sustainability. I had such a fun time sharing the evolution of our Pier 9 journey: from prototyping back in the shop, to building out our digital design workflows, and now scaling manufacturing. We were in excellent company with presentations from California College of the Arts, CalWave Inc., Phykos, PBC, Symbium, and engagement from Autodesk and Autodesk Research attendees. Thank you Omari Barron for your contagious excitement and for making this a reality, and thank you Maya Yaropa and Ali Farajmandi for photographing us in action. 🌍 🌱 Looking back on an inspiring kickoff to SF Climate Week! Our Kit Switch Meet & Product Tour in San Francisco last week brought together such a wonderful group working in the housing, construction innovation, and climate action space. Our time together included a mix of sharing Kit Switch’s mission and journey, a deep dive into the results of our completed projects, and an opportunity to engage with a demo of our Kitchen Kit. My favorite part was getting to see the connections between attendees and a true willingness towards mutual support in building an ecosystem at the nexus of climate, housing, and equity. 🌎 Exciting News Alert! Kit Switch is excited to announce that we have been selected to be a part of Scale for ClimateTech’s (S4C) 5th Cohort. As the newest Innovator in Scale for ClimateTechʼs accelerator program, we will be working closely with S4C to scale up our manufacturing efforts and delivery of our modular interiors. Through our participation in this program, we look forward to achieving key manufacturing milestones and our path to commercialization—all with the goal of reducing GHG emissions in New York State and beyond. We look forward to joining the Scale for ClimateTech community and are excited to learn from dedicated mentors, engage further with the New York State manufacturing ecosystem, and conduct Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) assessments with industry experts.
