Leeward Renewable Energy, LLC (LRE) recently secured our first-ever construction warehouse facility to support our continued investments in a rapidly growing operating portfolio. Initially, the $1.25 billion revolving facility will fund the construction of six fully contracted wind, solar and battery storage projects, totaling nearly 1 gigawatt of capacity, which are expected to be completed and begin operation throughout 2024 and 2025.     Wells Fargo is the administrative agent for the three-year credit facility. We are pleased to have their continued support as well as the support of other leading financial institutions. This further demonstrates the market’s confidence in our strategy to deliver reliable, long-term renewable energy solutions for our customers and contribute meaningfully to the communities we serve and the environment. • This Juneteenth Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) honors a significant milestone in our nation's history – June 19, the official date of the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. It is a day to remember and reflect on the struggles and achievements of our African American brothers and sisters throughout history. As we celebrate this important event, we want to reaffirm LRE’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace that values and respects the contributions of every individual. As part of that commitment LRE last year established The Collective, an Employee Resource Group championing our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion by fostering an inclusive professional network for African American, Latino, Asian, and other minority ethnic staff. On behalf of LRE, we wish you all an enjoyable and meaningful Juneteenth. Together, we can celebrate progress and make the world a place where everyone belongs. #Juneteenth

  • We were delighted to host Rep. Darin LaHood (R-IL) and our friends at the American Clean Power Association (ACP) at our GSG Wind Project. The success of GSG Wind showcases our innovative approach to repowering and our commitment to our local communities. The facility upgraded to state-of-the-art, domestically-produced GE turbines, resulting in a substantial increase in clean energy output with a much smaller footprint. The decommissioned wind turbine blades were recycled, keeping 600+ tons of metal and fiberglass out of public landfills. We look forward to deepening our relationship with the landowners and local community of West Brooklyn, Illinois, and are grateful for their continued trust and support.

Rep. Darin LaHood (R-IL) joined members of the clean energy community to tour #ACPMember Leeward Renewable Energy, LLC’s GSG Wind Project near West Brooklyn, Illinois today. Clean energy project tours like at GSG Wind showcase the real-life impacts of clean energy and how it drives local economies and saves family farms. Earlier this year, the GSG Wind Farm was repowered, where it decommissioned 40 wind turbines and constructed 26 new turbines, which generate 50% more clean energy and have a smaller footprint. The Leeward project repowering created 180 jobs at peak construction. https://bit.ly/3V1M0HE

  • Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) is proud to support the transition to a cleaner and more reliable grid. Our recent long-term agreement with Pacific Gas and Electric Company for LRE’s standalone 112.5-megawatt (MW) Sierra Pinta Energy Storage project in Yuma County, Arizona furthers this commitment. Sierra Pinta Energy Storage is a transformative project that will have a storage capacity of 450 MWh of clean power that can be dispatched during peak load times to meet demand. • Happy Biodiversity Day! At Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE), our comprehensive land stewardship strategy integrates agrivoltaics, conservation, and biodiversity initiatives to foster ecosystems and prioritize soil health. At our 200-megawatt Horizon Solar project in Texas, 3,000 sheep aid in vegetation management and soil fertilization. We also plant pollinator fields, support desert conservation, site apiaries, and use native plants. At LRE, we are not just producing clean energy but a sustainable future for all. #solar #biodiversity #sustainability

As part of our #STEM education and industry engagement efforts, LRE's Director of Portfolio Management, Blake Akanno, spoke with University of Oklahoma (OU) students in April. Thanks to OU's Robert M. Zinke Energy Management Program for inviting Blake to share insights on topics like power markets and #renewable industry trends. It was an inspiring discussion with future energy leaders, and we are proud to support the university's comprehensive curriculum preparing students for dynamic careers!
