We envision an inclusive Lehigh community where sustainability is an integral part of the institutional ethos.

About us

We envision an inclusive Lehigh community where sustainability is an integral part of the institutional ethos. This will inspire ecologically sound, socially just and financially prudent action that improves the well-being of people and the environment, and positions Lehigh as a forward-looking local and global collaborator and leader. Our mission is to advance solutions to support long term sustainable change in Lehigh’s operations, academics, administration and community. We will meet the evolving challenges of a changing world, mitigate the effects of climate change and develop and empower future leaders. The alignment of these sustainability values with our practices embodies Lehigh’s motto, “Homo Minister et Interpres Naturae,” which loosely translates to “Man (now interpreted as Humanity), the servant and interpreter of nature.”

Support the Pride Center, a place where people of all genders and sexualities thrive. Dollars go directly to grants, oSTEM conference attendees, and the center’s mission. The Pride Center funded thousands of grants to assist LGBTQIA+ students in financial distress from their coming-out journeys. Grants helped students as they needed support for rent, lost wages, gender-affirming care, and legal name changes. Such monetary support saves lives and retains talented students. https://lnkd.in/ef5GjR3d

Lehigh Joins Partnership with Eight Colleges and Universities to Bring Large-scale Solar Facility Online Lehigh University will be paying for an amount of energy equal to 92% of the electricity used by its campus. In exchange, Lehigh University will receive renewable energy credits, which can be used to account for greenhouse gas emissions related to purchased electricity. “Lehigh is thrilled to join our partner institutions in this collaborative effort,” said Audrey McSain, Lehigh’s sustainability director. “Not only does the project help each of us reach our respective sustainability goals, but it also provides real-world experiential learning opportunities and other educational benefits to our students.”
