Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

About us

At Make-A-Wish® America, we are more than a great place to work – our work is life-changing. We are an inclusive and diverse group of people who, through a mosaic of backgrounds, thoughts and experiences, are united in purposeful work. We are fueled and guided by our values – values that are represented in the inspired people we work with and the transformational work we do, every day. Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Make-A-Wish is the world’s leading children’s wish-granting organization, serving children in every community in the U.S. and in 50 countries worldwide. More than 40 years ago the inspiration for Make-A-Wish began with one little boy’s wish to be a police officer. Today, together with our volunteers, donors, staff and supporters, Make-A-Wish has granted more than 500,000 life-changing wishes and transformed countless lives worldwide. There is nothing more powerful than making a child’s wish come true. And at Make-A-Wish, we will stop at nothing to ensure every eligible child received a life-changing wish. We believe – and research shows – that a wish gives kids the resilience, courage and strength they need to fight their critical illnesses. A wish doesn’t signify an end or one happy moment in time … a wish truly has the power to transform lives. This is why wishes matter. This is Make-A-Wish. Mission: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

From wishing to reality: meet the young entrepreneur and wish kid Coby! In February 2023, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. While he was in the hospital, Coby looked through magazines, dreaming of the perfect lawnmower to grow his lawn mowing business, Clark and Bros. Coby’s wish of owning a lawn mower has come to life with the help of our partners at Genentech 🤩 Each year, Genentech dedicates an entire week for their employees to donate and volunteer their time in support of thriving communities. We are so grateful for their support in helping make wishes a reality for kids like Coby.

Isaiah loves basketball, but his anxiety about potential seizures kept him from playing with his friends. His wish to have a basketball court in his backyard gave him a chance to build his confidence and reclaim control over his game. 👏 Join us this Mental Health Awareness Month in celebrating the positive impact that wishes have on the mental and emotional well-being of children with critical illnesses. Learn more about Isaiah's wish experience at https://lnkd.in/eP5cVMBx.

Happy National Armed Forces Day to the many selfless members of the armed forces who help make wishes come true for children with critical illnesses like Korbyn, who wished to be a member of the National Guard. While undergoing chemotherapy, Korbyn’s medical team gave him Army toys to play with during his hospital stay. When he was given the chance to wish, Korbyn wanted to meet real military members and ride in a tank! He was thrilled when his wish came true and he hopped into a World War II Sherman Tank and rode it around a military base, and more. He even wore his flight suit when he returned to the hospital after his wish for a follow-up oncology appointment. Make-A-Wish Michigan
