The day unfolded with gray sky and light drizzle – typical of Washington in April. But this was not a typical day for Cameron. For the past year, “typical” meant staying indoors, wondering when his next hospital poke would be and talking with only his mom, dad, and stuffie pal, Clucks. But on this magical spring morning, Cameron stepped outside, sans a mask, for the first time in a year – eyes wide with excitement. Large construction trucks rolled in. His wish was happening! Celebrate National Camping Month with us! ⛺ At 4-years-old, Levi loved being outdoors. This came to a halt when he was diagnosed with cancer. While undergoing treatment, Levi found hope in an unexpected place. His mom would carry him past a small window in the hospital; he would peer outside and see a small pond just out of reach. When Levi was asked to think about a wish, his heart spoke loud and clear. He wanted more memories with his dad beyond the hospital walls, beyond the cancer. This is why Levi wished to go camping. ⭐ HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! ⭐ This month, we are celebrating one year with our Associate Director, Corporate Engagement, Molly! Reflecting on her first year at Make-A-Wish, Molly shared: “Until last year, I thought I had my dream job…then parenthood brought with it a newfound appreciation for the challenges parents face and the importance of family and community. This inspired a leap of faith and a major career shift…and it was the best decision I could have made! I am honored to play a part in bringing joy and hope to children with critical illnesses and their families.
