What if we created a world where all high school students express confidence in knowing where they’re heading next and in knowing that they’ll have the support they need to achieve their goals? Right now, this isn’t the case – Gen Z is ringing the alarm bell and saying that our education and workforce systems aren’t working. Over the past year, the Making Waves Education Foundation team has been listening to our students to better understand what Gen Z needs and how we can reimagine our programming. It’s been an awesome process. Check out this piece to see what we’re learning and ways we’re adapting. A big thank you both to our students and to the organizations who are inspiring us and shaping how we think about our work! https://lnkd.in/gZGvWefZ

I'm thrilled for the journey ahead and grateful for the experiences and many connections I've gained at Sonoma State University. 💙🤍

"I believe in the transformative power of education. Pursuing higher education has given me countless opportunities I wouldn't have dreamed of having," shared Cinthia Sanchez Diaz, who graduated from the University of California, Berkeley this past spring. Cinthia says her major in social welfare and minors in education and public policy equipped her with "the knowledge and confidence to imagine and create new systems of support for communities of color." Planning to gain more work experience before attending law school, Cinthia shared: "It's a bittersweet feeling graduating. Berkeley felt like a second home because of the relationships I formed. I'm excited to see everything that my friends and I will do to make a difference in this world." "This milestone is a testament to the collective care and strength I’ve had the privilege of receiving from my family, friends, and community," shared the first-gen college grad. "I'm grateful for the financial support and professional development Making Waves and my coaches provided throughout the years," Cinthia shared, expressing gratitude for "a whole community that watched me grow up, root for me, and celebrate my achievements in this new phase of life." 🎓🎉 Congrats, Cinthia! We're rooting for you as you continue to make a difference in the world!
