The RUD Chain, Inc. VRS STARPOINT is a star-shaped lift point that spins 360° in force direction. It features a captive bolt, which means it cannot come out of the load during a lift. There is a “key,” which is used just like an Allen wrench. You put the key into the head of the bolt, and then, the bolt into the load. To tighten the lifting point, you rotate it in a clockwise fashion. Once the bolt is tight on the load, you remove the key. The ring will swivel independent of the bolt because the key has been removed. This ensures the bolt will not back out of the load during an overhead lift. These lifting points have been very popular in moving motors, gear boxes, and other places where you only need one lifting point and not four. While the Starpoint can be used in conjunction with four lift points, a lot of times, this product is used for single-point lifts. Additionally, these RUD bolt-on lifting points can be used if you need a point to swivel, or to replace a shouldered eye bolt. One of the more popular options in European and Asian industries, a turnback eye sling is arguably the most efficient wire rope eye to manufacture. Also called a “fold back loop,” “returned-loop,” or “double-deck eye,” the turnback spliced eye is made by bending the rope against the live portion to the free end by using a steel or stainless steel (drop protective) sleeve. Like the Flemish eye, the sleeve is crimped with a hydraulic swager. While a great and efficient option, how do they compare to Flemish or hand-tucked eyes? As part of our ongoing series on the different types of wire rope eye slings, Terry Driscoll will explain the downsides to using them and why they aren’t common on job sites in the US. But how often should you get them inspected? Our article will answer this question, along with who should conduct the inspection and how long it will take. 📖: https://lnkd.in/ebgWz6VE
