In a recent Harvard Business Review article, Lauren Howe and Jochen Menges discuss “Research: How Family Motivates People to Do Their Best Work.” In most cases, workers who have family are more motivated in their work to benefit said family. Although their performance is typically higher, there are cases where these employees also are generally more stressed in their roles and have a higher risk of burnout. “Ironically, mothers are often advised not to mention their children in job interviews, for fear that they may be judged to be less committed to their careers. Yet such old-school thinking is in direct conflict with what the research actually shows: family can motivate work by prompting people to become more absorbed in their work.” You can learn more about the research drawing these conclusions in the full article below. #staffingindustry #executivesearch #leadershipsearch #family #employeemotivation
