Every executive should work at a new startup to reset their humility if they haven’t done it in a while. It’s so easy to lose touch with what really drives a business.

Are you a BS funnel, or a BS umbrella? Still the best litmus test for management.

Don’t believe the hype — AI Copilot is a replacement for typing, not thinking. If your developers are a *lot* more productive, then they’re bad. I love it and it’s totally worth $20 / month, but I’d pay that much for spell check or a nice monitor too.

You can’t identify “poor performers” from data alone — only who’s failing to ship code or comple tasks, which can be hard with a bad manager, team, or infrastructure.

90% “Russian roulette” security controls are dangerous. By fostering compalacency, they can backfire and make you less secure. Should you use antivirus software? Yes, but… not if you start downloading shady attachments. Should you use a VPN? Yes, but… not if you start sharing passwords or skipping 2FA on VPN-only services. Should you use an intrusion detection system? Yes, but… not if you stop patching as frequentlly. Should you do annual security training? Yes, but… not if you stop using least privilege access control and 2FA. The danger of 90% controls should be part of every security training, and people should be taught to behave as if they don’t exist.

Scammers from "minwarecareers[.]com" and have been sending out fake interview questionnaires. They're also spelling/grammar hypocrites, and they butchered our logo aspect ratio 😢.

Don’t be a big fish in a small pond. Join the strongest team that will let you in, and push until you’re no longer at the bottom. So many people languish in mediocrity because they won’t give up the ego satisfaction of being the smartest person in the room.

Just saw another CEO who got fired post about “stepping down to spend more time on [some BS…]” If you get fired, own it. You’re not fooling anyone, and you’re just making yourself look more incompetent. Even Andrew Mason — one of the worst public company CEOs of all time — was open about getting fired.
