While several of our team members made the trip to this year's Northwestern Mutual Annual Meeting in Milwaukee, the rest of us held things down on the home front here in the Twin Cities. To celebrate the annual meeting, some team members got together to enjoy breakfast and watch the general sessions live online this week! Northwestern Mutual's Annual Meeting features inspiring speakers, educational breakout sessions, recognition of the company's top advisors and teams and caps off with an annual company concert.

We’d like to congratulate our Financial Representative Intern Zach Van Craenenbroeck for officially signing onto the team as a full-time Financial Representative. Van Craenenbroeck exceeded expectations this spring, and his mentor, Financial Advisor Brody Gatz, is excited for his future impact here at Northwestern Mutual Twin Cities. “Zach has such a bright future with the company building his financial planning practice. Over the last year Zach has not only grown as a financial advisor, but more so importantly as a person,” Gatz said. “I know every client he interacts with and those who decide to trust him for now and the years to come will have made a decision they won’t regret. Zach will continue to do big things in life, and this is just one of those checkpoints. Congratulations on going full-time Zach and the impact you will make!” We’re thrilled to have you on the team, Zach!

As hard as our interns work, they play! On one evening of the three-day intern retreat, we visited WhirlyBall to play a variety of games and grow as a team! It was a nice break for our interns to kick-back and get to know each other in a casual setting. 

An annual tradition of ours is to host a Family and Friends Night for our summer interns. It’s always a blast and we know that our interns’ parents especially enjoy seeing how their college student is spending their summer! The evening was highlighted by a presentation from Author and Executive Rob Van Craenenbroeck on culture in the workplace, in which he shared how we can maintain Northwestern Mutual’s one-of-a-kind workplace culture. A big thank you to our speaker, our interns, and everyone who made it to our Family and Friends Night!

60% of families are hit with financial hardship as a result of a cancer diagnosis. Northwestern Mutual Twin Cities has been a longtime supporter of Pinky Swear Foundation who provides families with financial support for things like house, food and transportation, they can focus on what’s most important in the moment – undergoing treatment. We're honored to share that this past weekend, we hosted our second "Cancer is Messy" Fun Run event and raised more than $30,000 for Pinky Swear Foundation. A huge thank you to all of our participants, vendors and donors who helped make our hero-themed “Cancer is Messy” Fun Run a successful blast! We’re proud to share that we’ve reached our goal of raising $30,000 for Pinky Swear Foundation! Our afternoon was filled with a run around a beautiful lake, meeting superheroes, writing encouraging cards to children fighting cancer, chowing on Brick Oven Bus Pizza and MN Nice Cream and participating in a variety of other fun activities. We also had the pleasure of hearing from one of Pinky Swears’ all-star families: Chris McArdle. Thank you again to everyone who attended this year’s Fun Run and showed support for our cause, including our event sponsors: Minnesota Twins, McGill Junge Wealth Management, Minnesota Zoo Foundation, Baune Financial , Ben Rasanen, Kwik Trip, Inc., Scheels, Breiger Brandspiration and Erkel & Erkel. We made a huge impact on several families’ lives, but the list of people requesting Pinky Swear’s help continues to outpace their resources. If you’re inclined to donate, you can do so today! Join us this Saturday, June 29 at 9:30 a.m. to support our fundraiser for the Pinky Swear foundation during an adventure filled day at Normandale Lake Park! Lace up and dash through our 1.9-mile “Cancer is Messy” fun run, and then stop to purchase food from a variety of food trucks to recharge for the countless other activities we’ll have at the park: meet and greets with your favorite superheroes, a face painter, a bounce house, and so much more!
