At a time when more than a 100 million people have fled war and conflict, and tens of millions more flee climate driven disasters, collaboration across sectors is vital. NRC’s private sector partnerships is an exchange of expertise where businesses and corporations play an important role in humanitarian response. In our shared commitment, we strive for innovative solutions to empower people who have been forced to flee, helping them build a sustainable future for themselves and their communities. About us
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent humanitarian organisation helping people forced to flee. We protect displaced people and support them as they build a new future. We started our relief efforts after World War Two. Today, we work in both new and protracted crises across 40 countries. We specialise in six areas: food security, education, shelter, legal assistance, protection from violence, and water, sanitation and hygiene. We stand up for people forced to flee. NRC is a determined advocate for displaced people. We promote and defend displaced people's rights and dignity in local communities, with national governments and in the international arena. NRC’s Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre in Geneva is a global leader in monitoring, reporting on and advocating for people displaced within their own country. We work with partners across the world through NORCAP, our global provider of humanitarian, development and peacebuilding expertise. NORCAP collaborates with local, national and international partners on finding sustainable solutions to meet the needs of people at risk. Around 15,000 humanitarians work with the NRC. Most of us are hired locally to work in the field, and a small number are based at our head office in Oslo. Many of our colleagues were once themselves forced to flee their homes. NRC assisted almost 10 million people worldwide in 2023, and with your support, we can help even more. In order to meet the needs of 117 million displaced people worldwide, we need to unite forces across sectors and work together as one team. Through mutual partnerships we are dedicated to finding unique solutions for people who have been forced to flee, helping them build a sustainable future for themselves and their communities. A main priority for a person forced to flee is to find safety, shelter, food and water, and some semblance of normality. Once settled into new, often temporary, homes, they begin to grapple with life’s broader issues. Securing civil or identity documentation and an education for their children, getting married, finding a job and source of stable income, all involve often complex administrative or legal procedures. https://lnkd.in/dyYf-ZxN

Neglect has become the new normal. The world is no longer shocked and compelled to act by stories of desperation or record-breaking statistics. You may not hear about these crises in the news, but we ask you to listen. https://lnkd.in/dyF7GcD8

Many thanks to Christian Ringnes and Eiendomsspar for their generous donation, which makes it possible for us to move our head office to new and more suitable premises in 2027. This move will allow us to be more effective in our work for nearly 10 million people displaced by war and crises.

Discover the story of the Belembu school in the DR Congo. This primary school stands on the border between two territories in Ituri, where deadly clashes are rife. Here, the children try to study, despite the trauma of the conflict. In the ten schools in the area, two community leaders are trained per school. One is a permanent teacher at the school and the other is a facilitator who is a member of the displaced community. The facilitators are trained in the listening, psychosocial support and socio-emotional learning techniques of our Better Learning Programme. https://lnkd.in/dfnynTx7
