RedThread Research says "Coaching Tech is growing really fast!" I listened to the RedThread webinar on the state of Learning Tech Landscape today. Thanks to Dani Johnson and Stacia Sherman Garr for a great summation of a lot of data! Here were my top takeaways: ➡️ Coaching is one of the seven “game-changing functionalities” in Learning Tech right now. Coaching tech is “growing really fast”, is being incorporated into other learning platforms, and is being used to develop skills in myriad ways. ➡️ Gen AI is still at an early stage but has the potential to enable everything in the learning tech space, including coaching. There are experiments with AI chatbots and AI skills practice tools. ➡️ In selecting vendors, it’s important to find a strong partner who is willing to experiment, thought-partner, and problem-solve together with you! ➡️ There are 420+ vendors in the Learning Tech landscape selling to L&D buyers. This has accelerated as more organizations are seeing the value of learning tech solutions. ➡️ Organizations invest in an average of 11 different learning tech products. Whoa!

As leaders, it can be hard to respond when an employee loses a loved one. What’s appropriate? What’s overstepping? This can lead to a muted response or even inaction. Yet your response sends a literal and figurative message about how important your employee is and that you recognize and respect what matters to them. Wednesday is National Grief Awareness Day. Here are suggestions for responding to an employee who is grieving (find more advice in a fantastic article from Optify - follow the link in the comments below): Ask your employee open-ended questions, such as “Who/what are you grieving? How can I best support you?”  -Listen to their responses. It may be uncomfortable, and you need to be OK with that.  -Acknowledge what your employee has lost.  -Check in with them in the days, weeks, and months that follow. Grief is rarely a brief or linear process, and the support they need will likely change over time. This is not easy! As the article says, “Facing what you or others feel, not trying to tinker with it, is a hard skill, but one worth striving towards.” #Grief #LeadershipStrategies #GTNCoach

Joan Fletcher, PCC absolutely, responding to an employee who's grieving is a delicate balance. Your response speaks volumes about how much you value them and their well-being. And with #NationalGriefAwarenessDay approaching on Wednesday, this topic gains even more significance. I so agree with your suggestions! -Open-Ended Questions and Active Listening -Embrace Discomfort, Acknowledge Loss -Ongoing Support, Changing Needs -Regular check-ins over time show that you're there for the long haul. And I'll add. Embracing Polarities in the Face of Change (Loss) Change, in its ever-evolving nature, often brings with it the specter of loss. In these moments, the concept of polarities becomes an invaluable compass. Just as we harmonize ambition with appreciation, we can weave a balanced response to grief that draws strength from acceptance and growth. Leadership, at its core, is a dance of polarities—balancing firmness and flexibility, direction and collaboration. This dance also extends to how we approach grief. Imagine blending the strengths of self-focus and caring for others, creating a leadership style that nurtures growth while fostering meaningful connections. As we traverse the landscapes of leadership and loss, these polarities become guiding stars. How have you harmonized these dynamics in your leadership journey? #Leadership #GriefAwareness #CompassionateLeadership #SupportiveWorkplace
