Q: We're trying to choose between Ethernet and wavelengths for our connectivity needs. What do you recommend? A: Ethernet is flexible, scalable, cost-effective, and easy to install and manage. Wavelength technology is touted as the more reliable option—and the better one for large data transfers—but we’ve actually found that Ethernet is more reliable. You’d need to procure multiple wavelengths to come close to what an Ethernet network like ours provides inherently, which can be costly. We provide Ethernet at 100Gb across our network and ensure 50ms convergence time in the event of any path failure on our network. What are your connectivity goals? Our experts are here to help: https://lnkd.in/gS8WyZDd #ethernet #wavelength

"Providers are making plans to effectively and sustainably move to higher speeds such as 400G Ethernet, 800G Ethernet and beyond, while at the same time they’re also trying to develop advanced technologies to support AI networks. Efforts to develop more energy efficient technologies for optical networks and interfaces are also in the works. Optical circuit switches are currently being offered or developed by vendors including Cisco, Calient Networks, Broadcom, Nvidia, and Telescent. Google, too, is developing its own optical circuit switching platform called Apollo. While the need to support high bandwidth and speed is critical, these players are also focused on improving energy usage." #ainetworking #cloudnetworking #computernetworks #networkengineer
