We are thrilled to welcome the newest community doulas to our region! We honored 22 professionals last week as they transition to the much-needed community-based doula workforce. These doulas, who collectively speak Spanish, Portuguese, Creole, and Arabic, have completed the HealthConnect One curriculum, completed clinical observations, and gathered resources over the past five months. They are ready to bring their skills back to their communities and we are confident that parents, babies, and families throughout our region will benefit from their impact for generations to come. We are grateful to CarePoint Health System's Hoboken University Medical Center for welcoming the doulas for clinical observations. And a huge thank you to the fabulous facilitators who shared their expertise: Jill Wodnick, Juwana Montgomery, PCHW/Full Spectrum Doula, Marise Angibeau-Gray, and Ines Serna, as well as Partnership staff Sarah Muller-Robbins, Tyeisha James, MSN, RNC-MNN, CNL, and Yareni Sime for leading this effort. #doulas #maternalhealth #publichealth

On Wednesday, the FELLAS Fatherhood Program was able to celebrate Father’s Day, Juneteenth, and the end of our 7th cohort with a FELLAS Awards Dinner for our fathers. Sponsored by Lauraine and the Emotional Well-Being Program, FELLAS Dads came out with their families to eat, receive recognition medals, hear about upcoming program plans and how they can remain involved as FELLAS alumni. They also heard some of the statistics gathered by our Local Evaluation Team about how FELLAS has already impacted their community. Fathers in our program have reported increases in Employment, Finance, Conflict Resolution, Parenting Skills, Communication, and Empathy. We concluded our night by presenting 3 “Beyond FELLAS” Awards to Jason Minott, Bernard Brown, and Wagner Gomez for being standout participants in this cohort. Their families were very proud! A special thank you to the FELLAS Staff and Lauraine for their hard work and cooperation in coordinating another successful community gathering, celebrating our dads!

🗣️Did you know -- most birth-related illnesses and deaths are preventable If you are birthing individual who lives in New Jersey, your voice needs and deserves to be heard... now more than ever. As a liaison on Power of NJ Birth Stories, an important statewide project by the New Jersey Department of Health, I’m here to make a difference. I’m part of a diverse team of trusted community members who will guide the distribution and completion of surveys about birth experiences in our state. Certain individuals will be identified and notified to participate. The information that my team and I gather will help improve care and shape better outcomes for birthing people in New Jersey. Together, we are determined to make a healthy difference in outcomes for New Jersey’s birthing individuals. #PowerOfNJBirthStories #NurtureNJ #HealthyPregnancies Partnership for Maternal & Child Health of Northern New Jersey
