Patterson is all about our partnerships and the stories we can tell at the end of every day. Patterson Dental helped Chisholm Dentistry prepare Dr. John Chisholm for his son, Dr. Josh Chisholm, to join the practice. This was a plan they'd had since Josh turned 15 years old. While his son was in dental school, John added four new operatories, doubled the number of hygiene days, added new equipment and ultimately increased his practice's production by 20%. For Patterson VP of CISO, martial arts and cybersecurity aren't so different. Yes, one may involve throwing kicks and deflecting punches while the other requires writing code and working with computers. However, they're both fundamentally related through their emphasis on defense. Just like in martial arts, Peter says cybersecurity falls back on the fundamentals more often than not: “The reality is, it’s rarely a highly sophisticated technique that causes a breach. The defender didn’t do the fundamentals as strongly as they could. It’s not fancy, it’s not always exciting, but you must rely back on the fundamentals and make sure you’re doing the basics really, really, really well.” Peter recently presented this perspective at Secure 360, an annual cybersecurity conference. With cybersecurity being such an important part of any company's infrastructure, we're thankful to have Peter's leadership and attention to detail on our team! #WeArePatterson

Our partnership with Hope Dental Clinic has been a longstanding part of the #PattersonFoundation. With nearly $200,000 granted across the lifetime of our partnership, watch to learn more about the Foundation's most recent grant and how it's helping Hope Dental's local Minnesotan community:

We packed more than 3,000 hygiene kits for local nonprofits! "Patterson fully believes in and supports our commitment to community, so I want to make sure our interns know that if you are going to be an employee here and a team member at Patterson, you’re able to be in the community and support passions that you have outside of work,” Senior Patterson Foundation Manager Lindsay Stewart said. A group of 27 employees and interns came together at our office in Minnesota in honor of Juneteenth and Pride Month, smashing our goal of 1,000 kits. These will be donated to The Bridge for Youth and the Hallie Q. Brown Community Center! #WeArePatterson

Happy Independence Day! As we gather with friends and family for a range of holiday activities, we also want to thank our veterans for their service. Patterson Dental is a proud sponsor of the Dental Lifeline Network's Lifeline Heroes Challenge. Through their partnership, veterans receive extensive dental care to restore their oral health. This partnership allows Dental Lifeline Network to match veterans in need with volunteer dentists and labs who provide treatment at no cost. Another round of grants are going out to some hardworking nonprofit organizations who provide critical oral health care and assistance dog support to those in need. The #PattersonFoundation is awarding more than $140,000 in their Q2 grant cycle to 15 nonprofit organizations across the country: Circle Tail, Inc. When the pandemic hit in 2020, Patterson Operations Supervisor Holly Bray was given her parents' 40-year-old guitar and decided to take up a new hobby. Holly started guitar lessons and branched out to doing local open mics. “I’ve always liked to sing. I was in church choirs since I was a kid but it’s nerve-racking thinking of performing in front of people,” Bray said. “I think my guitar teacher could sense my hesitation, so he suggested I get to know someone with a similar ability level. It would be a good way to improve and get used to singing.” Holly created an open mic duo and caught the eye of Denise Walk, an Agile Program Manager here at Patterson. “Of course, with Patterson being a big company, me being in support and her being in development, we didn’t know each other but we struck up a friendship at a local open mic,” Bray said. “Before you know it, we were a three-woman band!” Denise joined the duo and The Chandeliers were born! The #PattersonFoundation granted WAKE Smiles $10,000 earlier this year to assist their mission of serving uninsured adults under the poverty line in Wake County, NC. Patterson Dental's Gayle Banic referred WAKE Smiles to the Patterson Foundation - she volunteers with their refugee patient population. We're glad to be supporting such an amazing organization alongside the work Gayle does!

Brad Corder has worked at Patterson Companies for 17 years. As for his son, Owen, he's a bit more green. Brad and Owen Corder are a father-son duo from Patterson Dental St. Louis, Missouri. While Brad is a territory representative, Owen took a bit of a different path: "Being a service technician is something I've always wanted to try my hand at. My favorite part in my role is feeling like a hero when an office needs help and I’m able to get there within the hour.” There's little to no competition between the two. Rather, Owen sees their work relationship as two skillsets accenting each other - one in sales, the other in technology. His dad agrees: “We have different skill sets so there isn’t a sense of competitiveness at work,” Brad said. “If anything, it's inspiring to see him excel in his role.” When it comes to the cons of working together, the only thing Owen could think of is his mom gets a bit jealous that he can have lunch with dad more often.

The #PattersonFoundation and Patterson Dental have been supporting America's Toothfairy: National Children's Oral Health Foundation for the last 20-years; both as a customer and a philanthropic partner. Our Region President Paul Guggenheim serves as the Vice Chair of their Board of Directors, and this year, Cody Borwig and Michael Farina from our Charlotte, North Carolina branch, helped present a $25,000 grant from Patterson Foundation to support their Smile Guardian Food Bank program.
