  • Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund is excited to join the Linkedin community as we look to grow our organization's reach and impact. Formed in 2018, we are a Minnesota based non-profit that raises funds for pediatric cancer research initiatives both locally and around the world through our signature event - the Pine Tree Apple Tennis Classic which takes places the first weekend in August at Life Time White Bear Lake and features the best mixed doubles tennis players in the upper Midwest in four divisions (Open, Masters, Grand Masters and Juniors). Celebrating our 39th Annual tournament August 1-4, 2024, the event has raised over $7.5 million for research initiatives at Children's Minnesota and has touched patients at over 600 hospitals in 60 countries. We invite you to learn more about our incredible "family" and get involved by visiting our website at http://www.ptacf.org. Game, Set, Cure!

It's been a while since I started my role at YourSteps Health as the Chief Operating Officer, and I wanted to share this update with everyone. When Lynn Tanner, PT, PhD announced to the Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund Board a year ago that she was starting a MedTech company, I immediately offered to help bring her vision to life. In just one year, we have made remarkable progress. Our innovative software platform is nearly complete, the regulatory pathway and Quality Management System (QMS) are established, and our launch plan, which includes pilot programs with world-class pediatric hospitals, is steadily advancing. People often ask why I came out of retirement for this role. My answer is simple: it doesn’t feel like work. This endeavor extends the positive impact of the clinical research funded by the Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund to millions of children, whether they are battling cancer, cystic fibrosis, or recovering from numerous common childhood conditions like concussions. I've met start-up founders, angel investors, and venture capitalists, and learned so much from so many who are clearly committed to making the world a better place. I can't think of a better way to spend my time!

When Dr. Lynn Tanner, one of the physical rehabilitation researchers that Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund supports, peers into her clinic waiting room at Children’s Minnesota, she sees few children in wagons or wheelchairs. As the mother of a pediatric cancer survivor treated at Children’s, I’ve spent a good amount of time in that same waiting room with my son and can verify that I’ve rarely seen kids in wagons or wheelchairs at clinic. I didn’t realize how unique this is until I learned...read more at https://www.ptacf.org/blog
