Long-acting contraception, such as hormonal implants and injections, offer women increased voice, choice, and agency over their sexual and reproductive health (don’t just listen to us; read the The New York Times reporting, too! https://bit.ly/46mpfDv). Through our Delivering Innovations in Self-Care (DISC) project, we've seen the transformative impact of educating and equipping women to be the change agents of their own SRH. About us
PSI is a network of locally rooted, globally connected organizations working to achieve consumer-powered healthcare — people-centered health systems that ensure quality, affordable care wherever and whenever it is needed. Our origins in sexual and reproductive health (SRH) have grown into a broader mission. Today, we work with the public and private sectors as well as local communities, prioritizing people’s voice and choice and developing solutions to meet their essential health needs. Over the past five decades, we have helped push boundaries, break taboos, set trends, and develop innovative solutions to complex global health challenges.

What if #SRH impact were measured not by numbers, but by whether or not we’ve met people's self-identified needs and preferences? For if our metrics capture people's right to switch or stop using contraception, then we can better design interventions that champion people's ability to take their health into their own hands. Today, is #WorldHepatitisDay! July also marks the end of a two-year study to assess the accessibility and usability of #HepC self-testing in India. Part of the Unitaid-funded, Population Services International-led STAR III initiative, this study culminated in insights critical for India’s journey to end hepatitis C in the country by 2030. To commemorate the end of the study, our team in India and JDot Productions put together two short films featuring perspectives from the study team at PATH, SAATHII, and SHALOM and stakeholders, including community advisory board members, from Mizoram and Uttar Pradesh. As all the buzz at this week's #AIDS2024 underscores, #selfcare in the #HIV response offers a tool to increase access, equity, and quality of care. It's a way for individuals to take their health into their own hands and an ace up health systems' sleeves to expand capacity beyond clinic-based services. What better time for the World Health Organization to release their latest publication, providing guidance for health systems to implement #selfcare interventions across regional contexts. 🌍 PATH, with support from Unitaid and in collaboration with Population Services International, concludes the National Dissemination Event for the STAR III Hepatitis C #SelfTesting project! This week's event was filled with insightful discussions and meaningful recommendations from our panelists and speakers. Key takeaways: ☑ High acceptability and usability of hepatitis C virus (HCV) self-test kits among people who inject drugs and at-risk populations in both Mizoram and Uttar Pradesh. ☑ Emphasis on increasing awareness about hepatitis C, with a significant portion of the population currently unaware of the disease. ☑ Enhanced self-risk perception for HCV infection through personalized counseling and mass awareness programs. ☑ Availability of both blood-based and saliva-based self-test kits to meet participant preferences. ☑ Saliva-based kits show promise for unassisted use, emphasizing the need for their availability and approval by relevant authorities. ☑ Inclusion of information on ancillary services like counseling and confirmatory testing in the self-test kits to address participants' concerns about testing and disclosure. Thank you to our partners for their continuous support. Together, we are making concerted efforts towards eliminating #HepatitisC by 2030. 💪 #ItsTimeforAction #WorldHepatitisDay SAATHII The World Hepatitis Alliance asha hegde Saravanamurthy P.
