On April 22, 2024, The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published its final rule on the Ensuring Access to Medicaid Services #AccessRule. Though the rule has already become effective, states have several years to seek guidance and build the necessary systems and processes to comply with its provisions. Learn more about key requirements for Medicaid home- and community-based services (#HCBS) and notable changes to the rule since the initial version was proposed in May 2024 here: https://ow.ly/kg1c50SByUJ

The "community" is often left out of community health outreach work. Alameda County recognized that the community health workforce is integral, yet training, ongoing education, organizational processes, and community-building needs were unmet. This week at the NACCHO360 conference, we will share our work in Alameda County, highlighting how we integrate community voices into program and policy development. This week, PCG had the incredible honor of participating in the 2024 Disability:IN Global Conference and Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada alongside more than 4,500 #DisabilityInclusion leaders and advocates from around the world. Through four days of presentations, panels, and discussions, we were able to learn from other people's experiences and, in turn, reflect on our own. Although the conference has ended, the dialogue about #Accessibility has not. We are committed to keeping this momentum on our journey to making PCG an inclusive and accessible workplace for all. #MoreThanAScore #WeAreIN

Building a business and contributing to the greater good are compatible. Leaving our world a better place starts with the next project. │ President/CEO and Founder, Public Consulting Group │ Board Member, CARE USA
Last week, PCG’s senior leadership group conducted a week of action-packed and inspiring events in Boston sharing the past fiscal year’s achievements, recognizing staff promotions, and prepping for our new year starting July 1st. We are grateful to observe our 38th consecutive year of growth and profitability. This is no minor feat and a claim few firms can make. Our history of double-digit growth rates and profitability empowers us to provide more state and local agencies with uniquely effective solutions which we have invested in over many years. At Thursday’s session, PCG featured one solution that has elevated the learning potential of hundreds of thousands of children across the U.S. Over the past few decades, many schools have implemented what is known as balanced literacy instruction. Research shows this method to be less effective with most students. Standardized test scores highlight that school-aged children in America test poorly in reading compared to students in many nations around the world. Children who do not develop reading skills are often economically disadvantaged and enter adulthood with looming employability concerns, lower income, poorer health outcomes, and lower self-esteem throughout their lifetimes. PCG designed and implemented customized curriculums for some of the largest, most challenged school districts in the U.S. based on the Science of Reading. This approach helps states, districts, schools, and teachers attack the nation’s literacy crisis by implementing large scale shifts in reading instruction. We have modified the way educators are trained to teach reading and writing skills. In Colorado, over 40,000 teachers and school leaders have participated in professional development based in the neuroscience of reading. Our online course has received exemplary ratings and teachers left the training with structured literacy concepts they could immediately use in their classrooms. Chicago Public Schools, another PCG client, achieved the No. 1 ranking for reading growth from 2019 to 2023 among large U.S. school districts. The city’s African American students led U.S. large school districts in reading improvement. Chicago was the only district where Latino students showed overall reading growth over the same four-year period. In March, we joined state leaders and educators from Colorado Public Schools at SXSW to discuss our partnership's positive outcomes. Watch the video below to learn more about our work together. We are proud to help our clients make meaningful impacts in the fields of education, health care, human services programs and government technology systems. These projects provide us with a sense of purpose and achievement. We are grateful for the confidence our clients place in us and strive to exceed their expectations. Each person at PCG knows the work we do matters. These are wonderful reasons to get up and do our very best, every single day for over 38 years. Here’s to making next year even better!
