Everyone on Reverence Care's business team is getting their hands dirty filling a shift or two as a front-line scheduler. Feeling grateful and inspired after my shift... WOW! What a remarkable role! 💟 My #1 takeaway: Give your scheduler a big hug today! 🤗 Imagine: The phone is ringing, and you're managing against a handful of open shifts (with different start times), and you're looking at a missed clock-in that might or might not be a no-call-no-show (and if it is, it's highly urgent!!), and you just got a text from a caregiver that they have a flat-tire and says their friend will cover for them this afternoon, but you also know that the friend is on overtime and is allergic to the client's cats. Never has prioritization been so important. You want to ensure that you are making the right decisions for your agency, the right decisions for your caregivers, the right decisions for your patients/clients. But where to go first? A few "so-whats": 1 - Schedulers really are doing God's work. And it's hard -- we all know it's hard -- but it's so, so needed to ensure sound care & patient experience. 2 - Clear guiding principles, good process-mapping, good data integrity -- basically, a "best practice" scheduling operating model" = is SO important to ensure success 3 - The value of the right technology is clearer than ever. We need to support and enable logic-based real-time prioritization/judgment calls, with a clear understanding of organizational goals and caregiver/patient priorities All of which means there's so much good work to be done here, and I'm thrilled for the part Reverence is playing supporting this work. But really, most importantly -- hug your scheduler 💛
