StartUp Boat recently sailed along the coast of the Greek Island of Samos, designing solutions for migration challenges from Greece to Ukraine We addressed local Greek challenges and transformed the solutions into immediate and mid-term needs in Ukraine: 1. The Midden Earth Initiative deep-dived into solving the local re-cycling challenge of the abandoned refugee camp. 2. Refugees from Ukraine created 'Upgrade Ukraine' during our time together, a civil society summit to establish a data-based roadmap and connect initiatives with investors to design a better post-war Ukraine. 3. Borders without Borders is a first responder initiative that spontaneously grew into a fully-fledged crisis relief NGO. It manages a safe and efficient supply chain between givers and beneficiaries for and from Ukraine. The team is currently developing an associated app to identify and address the real-time needs of people in Ukraine. 4. Modular Housing for Ukraine is a radical approach to repurposing housing solutions for refugees. The existing housing approach for refugees consists of short-term solutions wherein distressed and traumatized persons cannot feel safe or at home. The goal is to take modular houses for using the current minimalist trend of the “Tiny Houses” movement, usually designed for luxury markets, to produce the best possible permanent housing for Ukraine.  Please visit https://lnkd.in/dr5__UYq  to review the pitch decks of all projects and share this page with people who care for co-creating sustainable solutions for migration challenges #startup #team #design #data #people #projects #civil #migration #Ukraine #incubator #shift #paradigmshift #Greece #refugeecrisis #refugeestories #migration #culturechange #migrationstories #impactinvestment #impact #impactinvesting

Did you know that 110 million people around the world are forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution, or violence? And these numbers don’t include Ukrainians, Palestinians and Israelis! 🚨It's crucial to understand the facts surrounding mass migration and the challenges we all must face together as a result. This number is completely incorrect. Please do your research better. Spread awareness about these facts, and together, let's build a world order to allow people to reintegrate safely.

New York & U.S. Cities Struggle with High Costs of Migrant Arrivals 🌎💰 The surge in asylum seekers and migrants arriving at the U.S. southern border is causing significant financial strain on states and cities across the country. 📈 Unprecedented Financial Strain: With minimal federal support and long waiting times for legal work, cities are struggling to meet immediate needs. 🌆 New York City's Unique Challenge: The city has spent billions accommodating migrants, which has aggravated housing markets and prompted tensions with the federal government. 🏠 Housing Crisis: Cities are turning to hotels, cruise terminals, and other unconventional solutions to house migrants, worsening existing housing issues. 💰 High Costs: New York City alone spent an estimated $1.7 billion on migrant services through July 2023. 🤔 Lack of Federal Support: Mayors and governors are critical of the Biden administration's handling of the situation, citing limited federal aid. 💡 Solutions Needed: While federal policies are being adjusted, local communities are on the front lines and need resources to ensure migrants' immediate needs are met.
