As Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) has become a driving force in our safety training, we have sought to implement tools that improve hazard recognition such as the energy wheel. As we share on the VPPPA, Inc. website, we’ve identified some best practices for using the energy wheel in the field: 💪 Empower your people with proper training Use the energy wheel in the morning huddle 👷 👷 👷 ⚡ Avoid arguing over the “correct” energy category Use the energy wheel again in the work area 🦺 Learn more on the VPPPA website https://lnkd.in/gvSNXtqe #SturgeonElectric #MYRGroup #SafetyIsLife #safetyculture #bestpractices #energywheel #hazardrecognition #VPPPA

Happy Monday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. Construction sites are dynamic work environments – as we work, and as others are working around us, we need to continually assess our situation and make adjustments as needed. When you’re assessing your work set-up, take your time. Look above, below, in front of, behind, and to the sides of your work area. Then, go beyond assessing just in relation to your body – look all around heavy equipment and other items in your work area to ensure there’s nothing potentially hazardous in the vicinity. Your situational awareness will not only keep you safe, but empower you to better perform your tasks as well. At Sturgeon Electric, Safety is Life. #SturgeonElectric #MYRGroup #Safety #ElectricalConstruction #ConstructionSafety

Reflecting on our experience at the CAHED - Colorado Association of Healthcare Engineers & Directors Conference! 🌟 At Sturgeon Electric, our aim was simple: to connect deeply with our community and learn how we can elevate our electrical construction services and customer partnerships. Our engagement board sparked conversations and piqued curiosity among CAHED attendees. It was exciting to hear from attendees about the construction challenges they are faced with, industry trends, various uses of technology, and what inspires their work. We believe shared understanding makes for stronger partnerships, helps us find more ways to provide construction solutions, and drives successful project results. Together, let's embrace challenges, navigate trends, harness technology, and inspire each other to reach new heights in healthcare. #SturgeonElectric #EmbraceInnovation #InspireSuccess #CAHED #ElectricalConstruction

Happy Monday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. Stretching is important every day, regardless of the expected physical difficulty of the tasks you’re handling. By stretching, you’re warming up your muscles and increasing their flexibility and resilience. Your daily stretch routine should include a mix of both static and dynamic stretches. When stretching, pay attention to your body and how it’s feeling. Over time, you can try increasing the motion or exertion of a stretch as your muscle strength and flexibility increases. You also need to pay attention to your breathing while you stretch. Deep, steady breathing helps get oxygen to your muscles and increases blood flow. When your muscles are tense or shortened, they are more susceptible to injury. Start your workday off on the right (and safe!) foot by properly prepping your body for the job ahead. At Sturgeon Electric, Safety is Life. #SturgeonElectric #MYRGroup #Safety #ElectricalConstruction #ConstructionSafety

Last month, members of our safety team had the opportunity to attend the 2024 NECA Safety Professionals Conference in Denver, coming away with an amazing experience filled with learning and valuable insights from around the field of health and safety. 🦺 It’s always a nice reminder that our industry is filled with dedicated professionals who share the same passion and enthusiasm for employee safety as we do at Sturgeon Electric and across the MYR Group family of companies, and that by working together, our people perform their essential work in the safest way possible. “The breakout sessions I attended were helpful and informative,” Safety Manager Chris Griego said. “They discussed situations that we deal with on a regular basis as well as those cases that are not regularly encountered. There were enormous benefits of attending the conference and sharing important information on the advances and changes being made in the electrical industry.” We were privileged to share our knowledge and advancements in health and safety and were honored to receive recognition for our ongoing commitment to staying at the forefront of the industry. Thank you National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and all the other participants for making this year’s event such a success! #NECA #Safety #SafetyIsLife #SturgeonElectric #MYRGroup
