A strategic, creative leader with two decades of experience in philanthropy, including technology implementation, program strategy and execution, and foundation operations.
On June 18, I had the privilege of moderating a thought-provoking discussion at the CNJG Council of NJ Grantmakers' 2024 Spring Colloquium, "Empowering the Future: Harnessing AI and Data for Philanthropic Social Impact." The panelists, Rachel Kimber, MPA, MS, Don Chen and David Cole, shared some key insights for #philanthropy, the risks and concerns surrounding AI, how it might be leveraged drive positive change and reparative outcomes, and the power of our data to deepen impact. The era of AI is upon us. AI isn't purely a technical issue but a social challenge, too. Technology and data--and how we leverage them--are reflection of our culture and expression of our values. If we want better solutions we must invest in them. Proactive funding for AI solutions can empower us to control our data, improve decision-making, and magnify our societal influence. However, it is up to us to invest in, advocate for, and aspire to create the technology that can bring about a better future for all.
