1/8: Educate yourselves about the signs of trafficking, ask questions, and offer support if you see signs of someone who may be in unsafe situations (i.e., signs include, but are not limited to, running away frequently; irregular school attendance; significant changes in appearance; signs of physical trauma/injuries; tattoos like crowns, roses, references to money; repeated testing for pregnancies or STIs; sleep deprived; provocative images on social media; meets ‘dates’ set up via social media; multiple cell phones or number changing frequently; unexplained money,drugs, new material possessions; engaging in sexual activity for something of value in return)
2/8: Protect children by being safe people for them to seek advice from when they are engaging in risky behaviors. Listen without judgment and shaming, but create a place for others to think carefully about their situation.
3/8: Raise awareness about trafficking with your personal networks
4/8: Educate yourself about internet safety at sites like https://lnkd.in/g6DHewE and monitor the internet usage of the young ones in your lives
5/8: Donate time, professional skills, or financial support to local organizations who are helping survivors of trafficking
6/8: Learn about becoming a foster parent to children who need a safe home.
7/8: Advocate for someone to share about human trafficking at your child’s school, church, community group or business
8/8: Report suspected trafficking to the National Human Traffficking Hotline at (888) 373 - 7888
