At Tharros one, we work to prevent human trafficking by educating and equipping advocates to protect their communities, identifying vulnerable children, and collaborating with community partners to develop long-term solutions to end human trafficking. The first step to eliminating human trafficking is education. By educating yourself and your family, and learning the signs of human trafficking, you can prevent and rescue children from being trafficked. If you are part of a business, organization, or school that would benefit from more specific education and training, please get in touch!

Swipe for 8 practical ways you can combat #childtrafficking! 1/8: Educate yourselves about the signs of trafficking, ask questions, and offer support if you see signs of someone who may be in unsafe situations (i.e., signs include, but are not limited to, running away frequently; irregular school attendance; significant changes in appearance; signs of physical trauma/injuries; tattoos like crowns, roses, references to money; repeated testing for pregnancies or STIs; sleep deprived; provocative images on social media; meets ‘dates’ set up via social media; multiple cell phones or number changing frequently; unexplained money, drugs, new material possessions; engaging in sexual activity for something of value in return) 2/8: Protect children by being safe people for them to seek advice from when they are engaging in risky behaviors. Listen without judgment and shaming, but create a place for others to think carefully about their situation. 3/8: Raise awareness about trafficking with your personal networks 4/8: Educate yourself about internet safety at sites like https://lnkd.in/g6DHewE and monitor the internet usage of the young ones in your lives 5/8: Donate time, professional skills, or financial support to local organizations who are helping survivors of trafficking 6/8: Learn about becoming a foster parent to children who need a safe home. 7/8: Advocate for someone to share about human trafficking at your child’s school, church, community group or business 8/8: Report suspected trafficking to the National Human Traffficking Hotline at (888) 373 - 7888 For more info, visit the link in bio.

1/23/2024 - Boston Public Library (Instagram repost) The Tharros team recently held a team meeting at the Boston Public Library. We discussed key training points we aim to hit in Q1 of 2024. We also discussed fundraising projects to increase our operational capacity. As of today, every cent contributed to Tharros One has gone directly to the projects we are working on. (plus around 20k of personal investment to the organization). We hope to keep funds directly focused on our work and away from payroll. Un unreal expectation? Yes. One day the time will come when we need to hire full-time staff and account for payroll, but we hope to provide real value for our first 3 years until that time comes. Running a non-profit is a lot like a business. We do not make a profit per se, but without increasing our revenue, we cannot expand our capacity to help victims of trafficking. We have a business plan, a profit and loss statement, and quarterly income goals. Most ideas in the non-profit, world are usually good ideas, however, that is not good enough to stay in business. There needs to be a considerable amount of time allocated to build a brand, increase revenue streams, and monitor expenses. If you are thinking about starting a non-profit - it is very difficult (not impossible) to make serious change without a proper business plan. The Tharros team wishes you well and we thank you for reading. #humantraffickingawareness #humantraffickingprevention #startup #boston #counterintelligence #usa #nonprofit #nonprofitfundraising
