AMAZING HAS ARRIVED! We had an exciting start to the week as Monday marked the opening of the final phase of San Francisco International Airport's Harvey Milk Terminal 1. The special ribbon-cutting ceremony included remarks from SFO Airport Director Ivar C. Satero and San Francisco Mayor London Breed, with the mayor emphasizing the significance of opening to travelers during Pride month. Hensel Phelps is proud to have worked on this incredible project for nearly ten years. Turning over this final phase and watching as travelers continue to enjoy a seamless and elevated passenger experience at San Francisco International Airport is a rewarding feeling. Passenger-focused features in this newly opened phase of Terminal 1 include a mezzanine level security screening area, automated exit lanes, automatic self-serve bag drops and a new home for Alaska Airlines. Thank you to all the incredible individuals and partners who worked on this project, it takes a village: San Francisco International Airport, Gensler, Kuth Ranieri Architects, CONSOR Engineers (CPM Associates, Inc.), AECOM, Critchfield Mechanical, Inc., Redwood Electric Group, Rosendin, Transbay Fire Protection, Inc., BEUMER Group, Nevell Group, Inc., The Herrick Corporation, Foundation Constructors Inc., Nibbi Brothers General Contractors, Architectural Glass & Aluminum, Priority Architectural Graphics, B.T. The Clark team achieved a major tower crane relocation at Century City Center 🏗️ Crews moved the tower crane from within the building’s footprint to a structural platform extending from level five, allowing the team to progress with structural infills and steel. The team spent months collaborating with the structural steel and crane trade partners and the structural engineer of record to engineer a platform that could support the crane’s load. Congratulations to the Clark team, RELIABLE CRANE SERVICE LLC Services, and the joint venture of THE HERRICK COMPANY, INC. and SME Steel on this amazing feat!

BIG LA celebrates the topping out of one of its first projects, the Claremont McKenna College Robert Day Sciences Center! 🔬🧬 Swing by our Santa Monica studio to meet the BIG LA team and explore future collaborations! The 135,000 sq ft Sciences Center will be home to the liberal arts school’s next-generation Kravis Department of Integrated Sciences - a powerful, multi-disciplinary, computational approach to advance gene, brain and climate knowledge. The structure is designed as stacks of paired volumes, or rectangular ‘blocks’ - two per floor - with each pair rotated 45 degrees from the floor below. On the interior, the volumes are expressed as stacked trusses with floor-to-ceiling glass partitions providing visibility between spaces. The rotation of each floor creates a central sky-lit atrium at the heart of the building that provides direct views into classrooms and research spaces from all levels. Roughly 9,000 sq ft of solar panels on the roof will provide 200-230 megawatt hours of energy production per year. The project is aiming for LEED Gold and is expected to complete in 2025. Congratulations to all of our collaborators on this exciting milestone! For the past 30 years, The Herrick Corporation, owned by David and Dana Dornsife, has generously donated fabricated structural steel to many noteworthy projects in the Yosemite National Park, California. These projects have helped improve the park's hiking trails and installed numerous bear boxes for visitors' safety. As a tribute to their partnership, the Yosemite Conservancy and the National Park Service have created this beautiful poster featuring five of the more significant projects.
