FEMA is allocating $185 million to make dams stronger. The allocations for 32 states and one territory are through the Rehabilitation of High Hazard Potential Dam (HHPD) Grant Program, funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. This funding supports technical, planning, design, and construction for rehabilitation of eligible high-hazard potential dams. Dams age and deteriorate over time while populations near them grow. These grants aim to rehabilitate, remove, or repair these critical infrastructures. Non-federal governments and nonprofits are eligible for assistance. FEMA will announce the funded projects for the selected states and territories later this year. Learn more about the HHDP grant program funding: https://zurl.co/41Vx

Wrap-up for the 2024 Hawaii on the Hill! A heartfelt thank you to the incredible Chamber of Commerce Hawaii team for orchestrating such a fantastic few days with Hawaii's government, private sector, and non-profit leaders. In times of crisis, be it natural or otherwise, relationships are invaluable resources. Events like Hawaii on the Hill help foster those relationships so that when disaster hits, we are more resilient. On that note, resiliency was top of mind at this year's event. Tidal Basin Group sponsored a discussion on recovery and resiliency that included an introduction from FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell, and panel moderated by Tidal Basin Group's CEO Daniel Craig with County of Maui Mayor Richard Bissen, Hawaii Emergency Management Agency 's Administrator James BARROS and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation President Carolyn Cawley. #StrongerTogether #Mitigation #Resilience

Grilling is a summer favorite, especially during Independence Day, but safety should always come first. Follow our essential tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience! Grilling Safety Tips: 🔸Outdoor Setup: Always operate grills outdoors, away from houses, deck railings, and overhanging branches. 🔸Clearance: Maintain a safe zone of at least three feet around the grill to keep children and pets safe. 🔸Maintenance and Vigilance: Regularly clean grills to prevent fat and grease buildup and never leave the grill unattended. 🔸Check for Leaks: Before using a gas grill, apply a light soap and water solution to the hose and connections to check for leaks. Escaping gas will produce bubbles around any leaks. Share these grilling tips and learn more about heat safety to keep everyone safe this season: https://zurl.co/UvEm #SummerSafety #FireSafety #Preparedness #SafetyTips
