Please join us in welcoming two longtime community leaders to the Tidelands Health board of trustees. Tony Cox, a retired Myrtle Beach real estate executive, and Ray Funnye, director of public services for Georgetown County, have joined the 23-member board. Board members volunteer their time and expertise to serve as stewards of our not-for-profit health system. “Tony and Ray bring decades of experience, distinguished leadership and dedicated community service to our Tidelands Health board of trustees,” said J. Dr. Victor Archambeau, a Tidelands Health physician and long-time addiction recovery specialist, was recently recognized by Gov. Henry McMaster and the S.C. Center of Excellence in Addiction for “championing the science of addiction medicine by treating the disease of addiction medically, serving vulnerable citizens of our state and saving lives and families.” Dr. Archambeau is one of the region’s leading figures in the fight against the opioid epidemic and substance use disorder. His own battle with substance abuse 30 years ago inspired him to help others. “Helping those struggling with substance use disorder is really a calling for me,” Dr. Archambeau said. “Because of my own journey, I’m able to connect with those struggling, and they can relate to my past experience, which is a key for successful treatment. I feel privileged to be able to help others and am honored to receive this prestigious award.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/dS5NcYap

Nurses are a cornerstone of health care - providing high-quality, compassionate care every day. During National Nurses Week, and every week, please remember the importance of extending kindness to nurses and all health care workers. Workplace violence in health care is on the rise, but together we can help reverse this alarming trend. Health care workers commit to do no harm to others ; please make that same commitment to them.

On Wednesday, the City of Georgetown honored our incredible nursing team with a proclamation recognizing nurses’ dedication and commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care. Georgetown City Mayor Carol Jayroe visited Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, where she presented a proclamation formally recognizing National Nurses Week before touring the hospital to personally meet and thank nurses for their service to patients and the community. Thank you, Mayor Jayroe and the City of Georgetown, for this honor and for all you do in support of Tidelands Health and our community. We join you in recognizing the extraordinary nurses of Tidelands Health.

Establishing healthy habits when we're young can create the foundation for a better life. That's why, at Tidelands Health, we're proud to support an innovative pilot program that's helping children in our region form healthy habits through outdoor activity. LiveWell Georgetown County, an initiative led by Tidelands Health, is partnering with the Institute for Child Success to equip childcare providers with essential tools and skills to engage children in outdoor environments. “By prioritizing outdoor play and nature engagement in early childhood education, we aim to mitigate the risk factors associated with preventable chronic diseases such as diabetes and obesity, ultimately fostering a healthier and more vibrant community," said Connie Koprowicz, community outreach manager at Tidelands Health.
