🗞️ Extra! Extra! Read all about this month’s freight market update → Arrive Logistics recently reported July 2024 insights on the freight market. Here are some key stats: 🚚 DAT Reefer Load-to-Truck Ratio: Recent data from the beginning of July suggested that patterns are aligning with the decade-long average, with some tightening in May that stabilized swiftly. Based on historical patterns, it's likely that conditions will soften from late July through August. 📈 Import Volume Outlook: Import volumes are projected to maintain high levels through Q3. The National Retail Federation anticipates a significant uptick in cargo movement, with July and August expected to see a combined 4.43 million TEUs (containers), marking an 18.4% increase from last year. This surge in imports suggests retailers are actively replenishing their stock, preparing for what they believe will be robust consumer spending during the upcoming holiday season. 💸 Spot rates increased: According to DAT, spot rates for the three primary modes have seen a month-over-month increase in July. - Dry van spot rates: $2.10/mile (up $0.05 from June) - Reefer spot rates: $2.47/mile (up $0.03 from June) - Flatbed spot rates: $2.53/mile (up $0.02 from June) As the month concludes, these rates are expected to decrease, aligning more closely with June's averages. 🔗 To read the full report, click here. https://lnkd.in/eiW-KEgw

Presenting your Friday roundup of this week's top insights and freight memes🚚 Here are the key highlights from the world of logistics this week: ➡ Hurricane Beryl hit southeast Texas early Monday morning as a Category 1 storm, bringing strong winds of 94 mph, heavy rain, and dangerous storm surges. Before the hurricane made landfall, major ports along the Texas Gulf Coast, including Houston, Corpus Christi, Galveston, Freeport, and Texas City, closed down operations and stopped all ship traffic. The U.S. Coast Guard declared a "Zulu" condition for these ports on Sunday, which means no ships can move in or out and no cargo can be loaded or unloaded. On Wednesday, Port Houston and Galveston fully reopened, with others to follow. ➡ The U.S. Department of Energy's weekly retail diesel price report shows a continuing upward trend. For the fourth week in a row, diesel prices have increased, reaching $3.865 per gallon. This is the highest price since early May and represents a total increase of 20.7 cents over the past month. This recent surge follows a period of nine consecutive weeks where prices were declining. The significance of this trend lies in its impact on fuel surcharges, as many transportation companies use this benchmark to adjust their rates. ➡ Trucker Tools Cold Chain Tracking has hit the market!
