July 28th is World Hepatitis Day. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the prevention, treatment, and possible cures for this group of infectious diseases. The epigenome is crucial in inflammatory liver diseases such as hepatitis. At Tune, we are striving to develop a genetic tuning-based functional cure for people with Hepatitis B. To learn more about the role of the epigenome in inflammatory diseases, including hepatitis, check out this review article: https://bit.ly/3YomO1d #WorldHepatitisDay #Hepatitis

Mastering the epigenome, unlocking complex disease.
About us
The vast majority of human disease is governed by the epigenome, the subtle machinery that controls the volume of gene expression in cells. Tune Therapeutics is pioneering the creation of epi-therapeutic medicines with its powerful and precise epigenomic control platform, TEMPO. Unlike genome editing, TEMPO dials the volume of gene expression up or down towards healthy levels, without breaking or permanently rewriting DNA – and it can do this in multiple genes at once. This genetic tuning approach allows us to change cell fate and function at will, unlocking the ability to reverse pathways of cancer, genetic disease and aging. Our approach effectively expands the potential reach of genetic medicine – from targeting a limited range of rare conditions, to overcoming thousands of complex and chronic diseases that currently have no curative treatment.

Genetic tuning not only provides exquisite target specificity, but it also rules out the possibility of off-target DNA damage and repair responses – because no damage is done, and no repair is necessary. And critically, because genetic tuning does not create strand breaks in DNA, it is far better suited to working with multiple genes at once (or multiplexing) when compared to other gene therapy modalities. Armed with this technology, we can confidently target not just single genes but multiple nodes of control within a complex gene network. This expands the scope of genetic tuning to complex diseases involving the interaction of multiple genes and cell types, which describe the vast majority of common and chronic diseases we face today. Genetic tuning is a unique modality of genetic medicine enabled by cutting-edge advances in gene regulation. The resultant technology enables exquisite levels of control over gene activity – activating, silencing, or fine-tuning the output of specific genes to reverse cellular dysfunction and disease. Let’s explore the science behind genetic tuning and how it will change the game when it comes to the treatment of common and chronic diseases. #GeneticTuning #Epigenetics #TuneTx
