Here’s what happens during bucket installation: Preparation: Technicians meticulously inspect each bucket, ensuring it’s free from defects and damage. Safety gear, including heat-resistant gloves and eye protection, is a must! Wheel Attachment: Each bucket connects to the turbine wheel using tang dovetails. These fit into cutouts around the wheel rim. The design ensures a secure fit without overheating. Interference Fit: New buckets are carefully fitted with an interference fit. Heavy-duty straps tighten bucket groups. Axial Securing: The last few buckets are secured axially using twist-locks. This prevents any axial movement during operation.
