Meet Malcom and Jacqueline Robbins, who moved to Omaha, Nebraska for Malcom's life-saving heart transplant. Unsure of where to turn, Jacqueline dialed 211 for help finding housing. Within 30 days, 211 connected them to a handicap-accessible home where they could start Malcom's recovery journey. Every year, 211 helps connect millions of families like the Robbins to the housing support they need. https://lnkd.in/egmfx3Fx

ESG & Philanthropy Leader | Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer & Executive Vice President at United Way Worldwide
It was exciting this past week to attend the United Way Centraide Canada Conference on the topic of "Leading Forward," and to have Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speak at the conference, praising the strong, interconnected work of United Ways across Canada who continue to deliver critical programs to communities in difficult times. I also appreciated having the opportunity to speak at the conference about leveraging the tremendous power of the 211 helpline for disaster preparedness and response across the North American continent. As a trusted, non-partisan leader with a deep understanding of community needs, United Way is uniquely positioned to be there when neighbors need us most during unfortunate times of disaster and beyond. #UWCLeadingforward #LiveUnited #211Helpline #CommunityResilence #GovernmentPartnerships

United Way of Larimer County is partnering with Rocky Mountain Equality to expand support for LGBTQ+ teenagers in Weld and Larimer counties in Colorado. The 2021 Healthy Kids Colorado survey highlighted a mental health crisis among LGBTQ+ youth, with disproportionately high rates of suicidal ideation and self-harm. To address these critical needs, United Way of Larimer County collaborated with the Alliance for Suicide Prevention of Larimer County and Imagine Zero to create a powerful mural depicting youth voices. This mural, created by Jess Bean serves as a visual reminder of the struggles LGBTQ+ youth face and the importance of community support. Through partnerships like these, the United Way Network is committed to ensuring the well-being and empowerment of LGBTQ+ youth in our communities. #PrideMonth

Meet Blake, a 31-year-old artist on the autism spectrum whose journey showcases the power of community and inclusivity. Despite early challenges with verbal communication, Blake found his voice through art, earning national recognition for his unique talent. Beyond his artistic achievements, Blake volunteers with United Way of Greater High Point's BackPack program, helping to pack nearly 1,900 food bags weekly for students in need. This initiative not only supports students' academic success but also provides volunteers like Blake with essential workforce skills and confidence. Blake's story is a testament to the impact of community support and the belief that everyone has the potential to contribute meaningfully to society.
