The most potential for AI in healthcare is in improving, not replacing, what physicians can do for a patient, says Andrew Trister, MD PhD, our Chief Medical and Scientific Officer. By taking longitudinal data that is incorporated from a patient’s health record and sources like wearable devices, AI can be applied to gain insight for faster treatment. Dr. Trister will be speaking in depth about AI’s potential to inform the learning health system at American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Breakthrough on August 8. Today, Verily is changing our corporate headquarters from South San Francisco, CA to Dallas, Texas. Since opening our Dallas office three years ago, Verily has become an active leader in the growing DFW healthcare and tech ecosystem. The area offers a growing talent pool in health and technology and provides a central US office location for Verily to bridge our east and west coast locations – where we continue to invest and grow our presence in the SF Bay Area, Boston, Greater Toronto and Raleigh. As the industry and regional population grow in Dallas, we look forward to our continued contributions as an economic player and community leader in the years ahead. We’re hiring! The Verily team recently attended AHIP 2024, the leading industry conference for health insurance plans. Verily leaders weighed in on the challenges health plans face and the tech solutions designed to drive more personalized care. Here are the top 3 highlights from the show floor: 1️⃣ Dr. Vindell Washington on health equity: “One of the guiding product inclusion principles is that health equity doesn’t sit to the side of the solution.” 2️⃣ Yes, AI-powered care can be effective, but it relies on high-quality data and regulatory safety measures. 3️⃣ GLP-1s and virtual programs must combine to create real value. Verily also announced its launch of Verily Lightpath Metabolic, an AI-powered precision virtual care solution to be available for open enrollment beginning in January 2026. Chief Medical & Scientific Officer advancing precision health @ Verily, an Alphabet company | ex-Apple, Gates Foundation
The early warning system facilitated by wastewater testing proves invaluable in monitoring emerging pathogens, particularly in situations where clinical surveillance or active testing for a specific virus may be limited. We saw this recently come to life with the emergence of H5N1 and the Verily team’s development of an assay to detect H5 in wastewater samples. In a recent article, Megan Diamond discusses the public health opportunities of wastewater surveillance amid the H5N1 outbreak, emphasizing the effectiveness of this tool and the opportunities for the data to inform public health response. I continue to be encouraged by the continued investment we’re seeing in this space from organizations across both the public and private sector.

💊Imagine if patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes received their medication in pill form rather than injecting needles to themselves every day? ✨ We are happy to announce the launch of Exolvo Biosciences, a collaboration between NLC Health Ventures and Verily, a company of Alphabet Inc./Google. By using next-generation oral administration technology, Exolvo Biosciences envisions a future in which they transform the landscape of drug delivery. With flexible capsule sizes and modular designs, Exolvo makes treatments more accessible and less invasive. Currently, Exolvo Biosciences is in the process of assembling an IND package in the US while actively engaging with key pharmaceutical and biotech partners. "There is a need for innovative solutions for people living with chronic diseases" says Exolvo co-founder and CEO Brian Longstreet. Curious to learn more about Exolvo’s technology? Andrew Trister, MD PhD, our Chief Medical and Scientific Officer, sat down with Tina Tan of FirstWord HealthTech while at HLTH Europe to go in depth about Lightpath, Verily’s new chronic care solution that will be available in early 2026. “Lightpath is informed by Onduo. We learned a lot from managing type 2 and type 1 diabetes over the years, and we’re carrying that over and expanding into cardiometabolic syndromes.” “We’ve always used remote monitoring tools in Onduo, but we plan for Lightpath to do more. We are designing it to extend the coaches and doctors who are part of the programme, expanding the use of tools such as continuous blood glucose monitors (CGMs), connected blood pressure cuffs and scales, and also including generative AI tools in the mix.” Learn more about Verily Lightpath: https://bit.ly/3xNYaw1 #HLTHEurope #PrecisionHealth #ChronicConditions 📷 Benjamin Arthur Photography at HLTH Europe
