Bye bye 'carbon cowboys'. 🤠 👋 A six-month investigation reveals that many carbon credit ventures reap profits from public lands in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil they have no right to and fail to share revenue with those protecting the forest. When added together, the ventures claimed enough public land to cover the state of Maryland — six times. Examples of 'carbon cowboy' fraud such as this highlight the importance of transparent markets, directing funds towards projects that actually cut emissions, and having local communities lead their own work. “The system is very gameable,” said Joe Romm, Ph.D., a climate researcher at the University of Pennsylvania. “And the victim is the planet, and all of humanity who suffers because we’re not reducing emissions, but get to pretend we are.” That's why we're committed to building a transparent, collaborative clean energy future based on real impacts for real communities. There's no more time for games. https://lnkd.in/exkVvyiH #carboncredits #carbonoffsets #carboncowboys #cleanenergy #renewableenergy #energytransition Reporting from Terrence McCoy, Júlia Ledur and Marina Dias.

Go big, or go home? That’s the question FutureFit Partners founder David Chanin asked the building electrification industry. And since he ain’t going home. He’s going big. Taking on electrification of multi-family apartment complexes, Chanin is championing a vital piece of the puzzle for clean energy equity, and retrofitting 50-300+ unit properties in California with modern heating systems. Welcome aboard, Matthew Lynch 👏 #teamgrowth #newhire #teamnews
🚀 Exciting News: I’m joining WattCarbon to accelerate the deployment of distributed energy resources by making high impact clean energy accessible to any organization!🚀 I've been incredibly busy since I started, but this morning I wanted to pause and announce my new role as Head of Commercial Operations with WattCarbon! It is amazing to be a part of what the founders, McGee Young and Aaron have built! 🔧 What I'm here to do: 📈 Grow WattCarbon’s financial and enterprise product into new verticals. 💡 Lead the OpenEAC Alliance as its Chair to ensure the energy attribute certificates (EACs) on WattCarbon’s WEATs registry are back by validated methodologies that draw on the experiences and best practices from the rich ecosystem of professionals who are a part of the OpenEAC Alliance. 🏆 Let's accelerate the transition to distributed clean energy together! Please reach out if you are: - Interested in joining the OpenEAC Alliance to create an open source methodological framework for certifying EACs that relies on community standards and builds on existing best practices. - Curious how monetizing the environmental benefits of decarbonization projects can help unblock distributed clean energy implementation in Commercial Real Estate - Looking to better understand alternative methods to fund and finance distributed clean energy using EACs and WattCarbon’s WEATs registry 🙏 Reflecting on an Incredible 12+ Year Journey 🙏 It was an unforgettable 12 + year chapter co-founding Bractlet and leading it to acquisition by Backpack. Joining forces with Alec Manfre and Brian Keith Smith was the catalyst for an incredible adventure, propelling Bractlet through countless innovations within the building simulation space. To all of my Bractlet colleagues and friends, I can't express enough gratitude for the wisdom and resilience you've shared over the years, especially Robert “Trey” Bush who shared 8 years of that journey. The acquisition of Bractlet by Backpack ushered in new growth, one that allowed me to work with an exceptional executive team that CEO David Kaiserman was able to assemble (Christian Falk, Waynewright Malcolm, David McCain, and Mark Trutna). Lastly, to the product team - it was wonderful being a part of your career arc and the work we did together (Hamza Surti, Madison Russ, Katherine Weaver, RA, Suzie "Q" Miller, and Maggie Parsons). Thank you!

The sorts of solar rooftop projects that your Environmental Attribute Certificates (EACs) could be funding in West Virginia––decarbonizing people's much-loved community centers, schools, banks, homes, and farms––by making finance available and affordable for low-income households in environmental justice communities. 👉 Read the impact story behind the solar EACs: https://lnkd.in/ea2DGapw #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #CleanEnergy #WestVirginia #EnergyTransition #LaterIsTooLate [Photo credit: Solar Holler]

It's batteries' big moment.🔋💥 Extreme heat and power outage warnings for portions of SE Texas due to Storm Beryl mean it's go-time for WattCarbon's partners like Branch Energy. Branch is bolstering resilience without adding more fossil fuel power plants. It installs battery systems at no cost to the customer, using sophisticated algorithms to determine when to charge the battery (when power is cheap and clean) and discharge (when power is expensive and dirty). For the individual home or business, having a battery can also be a lifesaving change, enabling folks to keep the lights on during storms, even if the grid goes down. ⚡️🌇 Doing so protects lives and helps keep the power on during extreme weather events, providing air-conditioning to cool off from strenuous post-storm cleanups; supplying critical support during crises. ✅ We're proud to be partnering to deploy more investment into battery solutions in Texas with Branch. 👉 Read more: https://lnkd.in/euPeNBjg Stay safe this weekend, folks. #heatwave #extremeweather #batterystorage #renewableenergy #cleanenergy #gridstability #lateristoolate
