  • We are thrilled to announce that Kara Siebe from Webster Groves High School has received the 2024 Wolfe Teaching Excellence Award! Siebe leads our Webster Groves Thrive Entrepreneurship Incubator program. This prestigious award honors high school teachers who have made a lasting impact on their students, based on nominations from The University of Kansas seniors. Siebe was nominated by Quin Dolan, a senior in business administration and sport management at KU. Dolan, who had Siebe as a teacher in a marketing class at Webster Groves High School, wrote: “Mrs. Siebe is truly a one-of-a-kind teacher that the Webster Groves School District is lucky to have. For years, she has shown her commitment to the community, our school, and her students. In addition, she continues to open so many doors for her students by creating many amazing opportunities for us. She taught us how to set goals for ourselves, and more importantly how to achieve those goals.” Congratulations, Kara Siebe, on this well-deserved recognition!

  • Jacob Myers, CPA, has been approved as the new chief financial officer and chief operating officer for the Webster Groves School District, effective July 1, 2024. Myers holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Missouri State University. His previous roles, including director of finance at Francis Howell School District and director of accounting and finance at Hazelwood School District, have equipped him with a deep understanding of school finance requirements, budgeting, payroll, and compliance with state and federal regulations. During his tenure at Francis Howell School District, Myers successfully supervised all business office personnel and led major responsibilities in accounting, budgeting, finance, and auditing functions. His strategic thinking and solution-focused approach were instrumental in developing and presenting the district's annual budget, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and overseeing long-term capital budget planning.

Did you know that Webster Groves High School is one of the only high schools in the region with an automotive technology program? In these classes, students not only work on cars but learn about fuel technologies, engines, power tools and much more with direct hands on experiences. Teacher Frank Mandernach says that the more opportunities students have in finding out what they’re passionate about in high school, the more prepared they will be after graduation. Graduates have had successful careers working at auto shops, dealerships and even own their own businesses. Thanks in part to this one-of-a-kind program in Webster!

  • 🧡About last night…🧡 The Webster Groves community showed out in the Adam Mallette Classic. More than just a basketball game, the community raised over $30,000 for Mavrik & Zoey's 529 college fund surrounding the game between former Statesmen coach Jay Blossom’s Princpia and WGHS. Adam tragically had a seizure just two weeks after Zoey was born last summer, and after two months in the hospital, he passed away summer. Thank you to all who supported Adam’s wife Karri, Mavrik, Zoey and Adam’s family by attending the game last night and Drew Hanlen’s free basketball clinic this morning. Thank you to Paul Halfacre and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for the photos.

Thankful to spend the past week in New York City with 53 of the best marketing and entrepreneurial students in Webster Groves School District and five other teachers. We visited and met with personnel from Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp., Google, National Hockey League (NHL), Live Nation Entertainment, Momentum Worldwide, Area 23, BOOM Ventures, We Are BMF, Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Milk Bar, EdStudia, and much more. It was an experience of a lifetime not only for me but our students. Kara Siebe and Kathryn Laurentius do an absolutely fantastic job of lining up businesses and individuals to speak to our students. And huge thank you to Matt Koke, our tour guide. He was the best!!
