Is there a better workout to clear your mind? Run and push a sled - Tough to beat that one. 💕 All your cares seem to disappear. I had a great visit to Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska! Ran on Woodway USA's curved treadmill. Pushed EliteFTS.com's Prowler. Power Blocks from PowerBlock Inc. in the background. Thank you, Cole Fisher, CSCS (RSCC), USAW-1! Michelle Titus (Ferber)

The Altitude of Success: UND Hockey’s Game-Changing Training Innovation Woodway recently sat down with Mark Poolman and John Fitzgerald at the University of North Dakota to discuss the Altitude Chamber that has been added to their weight room. Poolman is the head Athletic Trainer and Strength Coach of UND Hockey of 20+ years, and Fitzgerald is a tenured Sports Scientist and professor at UND. The University of North Dakota Hockey team integrated Woodway’s Altitude Chamber into their training regime, significantly altering their strength, conditioning, and recovery approach. The chamber simulates high-altitude air, pushing athletes to their physical limits, and improves anaerobic and aerobic conditioning. The team has seen improvements in repeated-sprint ability and strength gains. Two key benefits of the chamber were identified: intermittent hypoxic exposures and recovery within the chamber. Intermittent hypoxic exposures involve performing work outside the chamber and then recovering inside. This method drives hormonal changes, increasing red blood cell production and respiratory compensation. As for recovery, the chamber enhances compensatory vasodilation, increasing blood flow and aiding recovery. The team has seen a consistent increase in peak power throughout the season due to the chamber’s use. In addition to physical gains, the Altitude Chamber also offers a psychological advantage. Players feel more prepared when competing at high altitudes and are more engaged in understanding their training due to the chamber’s novelty. It has also generated interest among potential recruits, contributing to the buzz around UND Hockey. As UND Hockey continues to utilize the Altitude Chamber, it plans to focus on resistance training, aerobic conditioning, and recovery exposures. The chamber proved to be a game-changer, enhancing physical performance, boosting mental confidence, and sparking curiosity among players and potential recruits. As it continues to train at these new heights, the future looks promising for UND Hockey. To read the full article, head to our website: https://lnkd.in/eNPjqBMy

Barb Fagan is currently training at Woodway Headquarters for the 29029 Everesting in Jackson Hole. She will climb Snow King 19 times (1.1-mile ascent and 2000 vertical gain) to equal 29029 feet…the vertical height of Mt Everest. Barb began her career in cardiac rehab as a clinical exercise physiologist in 1990. She was introduced to her first Woodway and never looked back. One by one, every treadmill in her program was replaced by a Woodway. They became one of the first cardiac rehab programs in the country to have ALL Woodways! “The original Woodway is still in the gym and working like a champ!” States Barb. Barb is no longer at FCMH in MF, but she now works at Chanl Health, an innovative start-up that delivers holistic solutions using simplified technology. Barb is a long-time endurance athlete who’s completed 16 Ironman Triathlons, including 2 World Championships in Hawaii, multiple ultras, including 100-mile races, and now she is taking on 29029. A quote from Barb regarding her training: “I am preparing for the 29029 Everesting event in Jackson Hole on July 19th. It has been an incredible journey, and I am immensely grateful for the support of Woodway USA. Training on the Woodway RidgeRunner in their state-of-the-art altitude chamber, set at 9,200 feet, has been an unparalleled experience. This unique opportunity has allowed me to simulate the challenging conditions of mountain climbing right here in my home state of Wisconsin. The advanced technology and commitment to excellence at Woodway USA have played a crucial role in my preparation. Being associated with such a phenomenal company dedicated to pushing the boundaries of fitness and training is truly inspiring. Their unwavering support has empowered me to train effectively and confidently as I gear up for this demanding adventure. The ability to train in a controlled environment that replicates the high-altitude conditions of Jackson Hole has been invaluable. It has given me the confidence and physical readiness required to tackle the grueling 29029 Everesting challenge. I am honored to be part of the Woodway USA community and grateful for their dedication to helping athletes achieve their highest potential.” Barbra Fagan, MS, MAACVPR
