The WCO Grant Program supported Cherish Eyesight and Vision (CEV)’s “Vision Tales” project, an initiative to improve visual health literacy using storytelling and animations that highlight real-life implications of eye diseases. Funds were approved through a General Grant to Araba Otoo of the American Optometric Association, a WCO Country Member. View the videos at https://lnkd.in/g7b5Rn3Z. . . . Each year, we recognize July 23 as World Sjögren's Day. WCO is proud to support the Sjögren’s Foundation and all Sjögren’s patients. Unfortunately, because Sjögren’s causes white blood cells to attack the tear glands, 92% of Sjögren's patients suffer from dry eye disease. View the updated WCO Alcon Dry Eye Wheel at https://lnkd.in/graeBEQi. Visit the Sjögren's Foundation’s website to learn more: https://lnkd.in/dN25xmmE. #WorldSjögrensDay #DryEyeDisease #DryEye

July is UV Safety Awareness Month! Extensive UV exposure increases the risk of macular degeneration, cataracts, and other UV-related eye diseases. Adults and children alike need to be protected from damaging UV rays. Remind your patients of the importance of protecting their eyes from the sun by wearing sunglasses with 100% UV protection when spending time outside.
