Services Manager.

BACKGROUND/MISSION

Figure Skating in Harlem (FSH) is the only organization to combine the power of education with

the grace and discipline of figure skating to build young leaders. We give girls 6-18 access to

innovative afterschool and summer programs that advance their intellectual, emotional and

physical health. Our mission is to help girls transform their lives and grow in confidence,

leadership and academic achievement. For more than 27 years, our award-winning programs

have provided more than 1,500 girls from low-income communities with access to education,

health and wellness services to help them reach their fullest potential. Our vision is for every

student, regardless of socio-economic background, to acquire the foundational academic, social

and leadership skills to achieve her dreams. She will be a powerful speaker, an effective leader,

live a healthy lifestyle and be a global citizen. Headquartered in Harlem, we have launched our

first chapter in 2017, Figure Skating in Detroit.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Education and Leadership, the Career and Alumni Services

Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the career development and alumni engagement

efforts for our college-age and early career alumni. This position requires a blend of strategic

thinking, relationship-building, and program development to provide alumni with resources,

opportunities, and support as they transition into the workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cultivation of Alumni Relationships:○ Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with FSH alumni, acting as the

primary contact for college-age and early career alumni.

  • Alumni Board Liaison Role:

○ Serve as the liaison between FSH alumni board leadership and FSH, actively

participating in all alumni board meetings and effectively communicating

pertinent information and ideas back to FSH leadership to ensure alignment with

organizational goals.

  • Opportunity Identification and Creation:

○ In partnership with FSH leadership and Development, identify, develop and

communicate various opportunities for young adult alumni, including

internships, job shadowing, mentorship programs, and networking events.

  • Program Development and Implementation:

○ Design and execute monthly workshops, programs, and events tailored to meet

the specific needs of young adult alumni. Topics may include resume writing,

interview skills, networking strategies, and career exploration.

  • Relationship Building with External Partners:

○ Establish and nurture relationships with external partners, employers, and

organizations to expand opportunities available to our young adult alumni.

  • Data Collection and Analysis for Continuous Improvement:

○ Collaborate closely with the Development team and FSH Leadership to set and

achieve programming goals in line with Funder commitments.

○ Collect and analyze data on alumni engagement and career outcomes,

identifying trends and patterns to inform strategic decision-making and enhance

program effectiveness.

○ Continuously update and maintain the FSH alumni database to ensure accuracy

and reliability of data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in alumni relations, career services, or related

fields.

  • Strong understanding of career development principles and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently with minimal

supervision.

  • Experience working with young adults and understanding their needs and challenges in

the transition to the workforce.

  • Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of alumni and the organization.
