Position Summary:

Bowlero is the leading Bowling company in the world with 350+ locations with more than $1.1 billion of revenue and non-payroll purchasing greater than $500 million. We are looking to add for a newly defined role: a Chief Procurement Officer. The CPO will work to centralize purchasing and build a team from scratch to deliver Procurement Organization Capabilities, Best Practices, Process Improvement and Technology solutions in the company. This position is a key leadership role and directly enables the broader Bowlero team to grow its capability to maximize value creation and leveraging of external suppliers and partnerships and become a highly trusted strategic partner for the business. This position builds and develops the team through coaching, mentoring, skills development, as well as providing effective rewards and recognition and a healthy career path in the company.

You will use your strategic mindset, superior executive presence, organizational savvy, and knowledge of the industry to drive Procurement strategy. You will foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the procurement function. You will define and design new capabilities and proof of concept efforts to accelerate results, and partner with teams for strategy development and goal setting. The role is responsible for building cross-functional relationships across the enterprise, including with strategic functional and business resources in the market. Collaboration across functions is crucial to align strategies and drive organizational success.

Summary of Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Short term focus on working with CFO to develop short and long term goals for a centralized procurement function.
  • Short term goal of hiring category managers and financial analyst.
  • Medium term focus to select and rollout SAAS P2P platform that integrates with Oracle JD Edwards (JDE).
  • Identify best-in-class practices Bowlero can adopt.
  • Define and design new capabilities via relationships with functional and business leaders, market research, industry conferences, etc.
  • Conduct research, analyze market trends, and identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization within the procurement function.
  • Lead new initiative discussions with enterprise leaders and analyze initiatives for opportunity.
  • Provide strategic vision and prioritization guidance for assigned focus areas in close coordination with cross-functional partners.
  • Delegate to cross-functional teams to pursue strategic initiatives; oversee driving regular touchpoints, providing guidance, and bringing in SME’s and procurement leadership where necessary.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership, providing insights and updates on functional strategy and performance.

Business Understanding and Direction:

  • Understands the vision, mission, strategies and goals of Bowlero and the changing environment of the industry in which it operates. Strong understanding of operations.
  • Has a good grasp of how Procurement collaborates and interacts with Supply Chain, Finance, Sales & Marketing, HR, and IT.
  • Analyzes organization realities and gaps of the procurement organization and can think of possible solutions to address gaps.
  • Defines vision, mission, strategies and KPIs and aligns these with corporate directions.

Leadership of Procurement Team and Strategic Partnerships:

  • Defines strategic plans, metrics and initiatives implementation across organization capability, policy & governance, best-in-class processes and programs, skills training, and procurement technology solutions.
  • Builds goals, priorities, and deliverables for the procurement team.
  • Reviews and approves all procurement interventions and initiatives. Tracks results and adjusts if needed.
  • Builds the capability of the procurement team through talent, reward and career development.
  • Leverages use of technology for procurement areas.
  • Recommends procurement budget for CFO approval.
  • Builds and maintains partnerships with internal stakeholders (Procurement, category managers, HR, Finance, and IT), proactively analyzes their needs and requirements and translates those to specific actions.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 7+ years of procurement leadership and purchasing experience, strategic planning and demonstrated leadership experience in a related operational field.
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with global procurement and sourcing processes, legal contract negotiations, and contract management.
  • Demonstrated success developing multi-year strategies; background with a large (>$1BB) company preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships with and influence a dynamic and diverse set of stakeholders, including the ability to listen and understand differing perspectives.
  • Strategic mindset with quantitative, problem-solving, project management, and negotiation skills and a strong desire for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Adept at managing change and working through ambiguity to identify and drive to a solution, both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise and collaborate and influence with integrity.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful functional strategies that drive business results.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, cost optimization strategies, and market trends within the entertainment and/or F&B industry.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to senior leadership.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: General office environment where you will walk, bend and stand for periods of time.

The approximate pay range for this position is $215,000 - $235,000 annually. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
