Job Title: Civil Engineer (Land Development/Transportation/Drainage)

Location: San Luis Obispo, CA or Salinas, CA

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Civil Engineer to join our team in either San Luis Obispo or Salinas. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Land Development, Transportation, or Drainage projects. This role involves planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures and infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Planning and Design:
• Develop and prepare engineering designs and plans for land development, transportation, and drainage projects.
• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies.
• Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Project Management:
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
• Permitting and Compliance:
• Prepare and submit permit applications to local, state, and federal agencies.
• Ensure all projects comply with environmental, zoning, and other regulatory requirements.
• Technical Analysis:
• Conduct hydraulic and hydrologic analyses for drainage projects.
• Perform transportation planning and traffic studies.
• Utilize software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS for project designs.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including surveyors, architects, and urban planners.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and interns.
• Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and the public.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in California or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on land development, transportation, or drainage projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, and other relevant engineering software.
• Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulations and permitting processes.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with sustainable design practices and green infrastructure.
• Knowledge of stormwater management practices and low impact development (LID).
