Our client has a full-time Direct Hire opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Advisor in Emporia. Salary Range of $110K - 125K plus bonus, and relocation allowance.

Why do you have the need(s): Reporting to the Plant Manager, the CI Advisor will be responsible to lead progress initiatives and deployment of internal production system (IPS) programs, similar to Toyota's Kaizen approach, throughout the facility. They will be a key part of the current expansion by ensuring optimal performance of new machines and provide ideas on ways to increase production of current machines.

Day to day job responsibilities:

  • Provide Leadership / coaching / training to all levels and functions on the use and practice of Lean methodology (ex. EVSM, VSMs, Kaizens, 6 Sigma, etc.) tools.
  • Promote operations performance that constantly strives to eliminate waste, improve customer satisfaction, via the use of IPS methodologies.
  • Provide assistance and counseling as the need arises to ensure that the IPS best practices are deployed and sustained after implementation.
  • Influence adaptation of the IPS structure and maintain professional and technical knowledge through world class lean manufacturing benchmarking.
  • Improve different training documents, audit forms, and monitor IPS progression.
  • Define and implement the IPS Roadmap.
  • Support the operating plan to achieve plant and company goals.
  • Partner with functional leaders and site managers within the Business Line to assess current processes and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Shop Managers, Supervisors, and sites to create a continuous improvement plan aligned on their operating plan and BU goals.
  • Track, measure, and report progress on improvements using standard, established Key Performance Indicators
  • Ensure that appropriate safety and ergonomic processes and methods are applied.
  • Support the EMS, QMS & EH&S systems.

The plant employs roughly 225 people and 80000 sq ft.

3 Must haves for the position:

  • BS in Industrial Engineering, a similar technical major or equivalent experience is required. A Lean Green Belt certification is required. A Black Belt certification is preferred.
  • Ideally 13+ years’ experience in a continuous improvement leadership role is required, preferably in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated flexibility in leading and training people on all shifts.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team by setting clear goals, providing regular feedback/coaching, leading by example, and fostering a positive work environment to inspire change together. Experience in leading organizational cultural change, such as variation reduction, is preferred.
