Summary:

As a member of the Powin Legal Team, working close with the General Counsel, the Corporate Counsel is a key utility player that will support Powin’s legal operations. The Corporate Counsel will be involved in various aspects of Powin’s operations and assist in implementing improvements and efficiencies for a Company experiencing substantial growth. In this role, support the department, including general contract reviews, litigation management, and assisting with special projects. The Corporate Counsel must be comfortable in a dynamic, ever-changing environment and have a passion for exploration, problem solving, and continued professional development.

Job Details:

  • Work closely with the General Counsel, providing comprehensive legal support as needed
  • Assist with research, drafting, and implementation of legal strategies
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including NDAs and other general agreements
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations
  • Assist in managing litigation matters, including coordinating with external counsel and handling discovery processes
  • Manage and resolve disputes
  • Arbitrate, mediate and advocate on behalf of Powin
  • Draft and interpret legal documents, including but not limited to contracts, notices, change-orders and amendments
  • Manage a high volume of data, manage and improve legal databases, and track key terms and obligations
  • Support multiple departments as assigned, including HR, finance, projects, services, procurement, revenue and others
  • Provide legal guidance on HR-related matters, including employment contracts, policies, and dispute resolution
  • Assist with employee relations and compliance issues
  • Serve as the administrative lead for special projects, providing legal support and ensuring timely completion
  • Create standard work and training for departments to increase efficiencies and improve outcomes
  • Create and present reporting metrics
  • Demonstrate a proactive and practical approach to identifying and resolving legal issues
  • Take on assigned tasks and adapt to changing priorities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and an active bar license for at least one state
  • 2+ Years of relevant legal experience, preferably with work managing contracts and litigation
  • Strong understanding of contract law and experience with contract drafting and negotiation
  • Energy industry experience is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build solid relationships and work effectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally (written and oral)
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Ability to self-start and operate autonomously
  • Willingness to learn and embrace the company’s philosophy and culture
  • Not afraid to learn from mistakes and eager to take on new challenges
  • Periodic travel is required
