Stoner Ranch Productions is seeking a highly skilled director of photography for our upcoming full-length feature film, Bonding. Bonding is a thriller set in a beautiful mountain location near Telluride, Colorado.


Movie logline: Three disconnected siblings must confront their personal differences to cover up the murder of a tech millionaire at his remote Colorado ranch.


This position will work in close collaboration with our director to achieve the desired thematic and aesthetic visuals for the film. While the role is primarily creative, the director of photography will also be responsible for staffing and leading the camera and lighting crews for production.


Location: On-site in Dolores and Grand Junction, Colorado


Responsibilities:

Collaborating with the director on the aesthetic vision of the film through shot composition, equipment choice, and lighting.

Collaborating with the line producer in the context of the production's budget.

Collaborating with the Gaffer on the selection of lighting equipment.

Sourcing and managing the Camera crew.

Selecting and maintaining all camera equipment.

Solving on-set problems and providing quality solutions.

Operating the camera or delegating camera operation (pending production needs).

Assisting in location scouting and storyboarding.

All other responsibilities customary to a professional, director of photography position.

Must work within the planned shooting schedule while creating excellent results.


Qualifications:

Previous Experience: 5+ years of experience as a director of photography for professional, narrative films. We need to see a history of creative, theatrical works with successful production companies, be they large, known entities or small, yet successful outfits. Independent film experience is highly valued.

Technical Skills: Proficiency with requisite equipment including cameras, camera accessories, camera rigs, lenses, and lighting equipment. Must also understand post-production requirements for deliverable footage.

Camera Operation: Proficiency in operating cameras and requisite camera equipment.

Creative Vision: A strong creative and collaborative vision for narrative projects. An understanding of themes and narrative conventions, not just technical knowledge.

Adaptability: The flexibility to produce quality work under a variety of conditions. The ability to keep a cool head under stress and maintain a positive attitude while solving problems.

Leadership: Strong leadership skills including personal ownership, leading by example, accountability, honesty, productive criticism, and an uplifting attitude.

Communication: The ability to communicate ideas, needs, desires, and suggestions with tact, clarity, and efficiency.

Attention to Detail: High levels of organization and specificity.

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Union Status: Union status is preferred, but not required if the applicant has quality experience and high creative ability.

Location: Colorado residents are preferred.

Passion: A love of film and a benevolent desire to share that passion are critical to this hiring.

Perks and Benefits:

Stoner Ranch Productions is attaining signatory status with IATSE Local 600 and will be following all union guidelines and requirements.

Housing will be provided while on set.

All food will be provided while on set.

Travel will be compensated, and travel time will be included in payment.


Compensation: $500 / day


Dates:

On-site preproduction begins August 13th (pending production needs).

Principal Photography begins at the beginning of October (pending production needs).
