The City of Chandler Fire Prevention and Preparedness Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as an Emergency Manager. The position is scheduled to work 5 days a week, 8 hours per day.

The City of Chandler, Arizona, Fire Department is a progressive, internationally accredited organization with an ISO Class 1 rating and a distinguished history of service to the community. Chandler Fire started out as a volunteer organization and is now an all career department. City charter authorizes the Department to mitigate all hazards, including fire suppression, emergency medical services (EMS), hazardous materials response, technical rescue, and crisis intervention. In support of those functions, the Fire Department staffs a fire prevention bureau, EMS and training divisions, mechanical maintenance facility, community preparedness office, and Department administration.

Who We Are Looking For
Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. The civilian Emergency Manager is responsible for all four phases of disaster management including mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. Emergency Management duties require specialized knowledge and training to function at a professional level. These skills are particularly imperative within a City that possesses a complex assortment of critical infrastructure, hazard potential, and vulnerabilities.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Public Health, Public Administration or a related field
3 years experience in emergency management administration and development to include experience in developing and administering associated plans, policies and procedures
Completion of the FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800 courses Valid Arizona driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Desired Qualifications
The Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) Emergency Management Professional Certification
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Professional Development Series (PDS) Certificate/Advanced Professional Series (APS) Certificate
The International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) Certificate
Completion of training using the National Incident Management System (NIMS), or Incident Command Systems (ICS), OR training in emergency support function methods and principles
This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.
The City of Chandler will conduct a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.
