Environmental Assessment Services, LLC (EAS) is an established environmental services firm. EAS is currently looking for an Environmental Scientist. This is a full-time remote position with up to 25% travel for project work. The Environmental Scientist role will provide environmental compliance and due diligence support to clients nationwide. This role will facilitate the integration and adoption of environmental compliance activities, procedures, and reporting requirements at their designated sites.

Essential Functions

  • Reporting: Assist with any required agency reporting and preparation of plans, as required by permit, Federal or State regulation. Examples may include NSPS, NESHAP, NPDES, RCRA, and other reports such as Tier II and SARA 313 TRI reporting.
  • Prepare environmental due diligence reports such as:
    • Phase I Environmental Assessments (Phase I ESA)
    • Phase II Environmental Assessments (Phase II ESA)
    • Environmental Baseline Surveys (EBS)
    • Hazardous Materials Assessments (HMA)
  • Collaborate with and support senior planners, resource specialists, and project managers in the preparation of environmental plans and studies
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute experience in all phases of work execution and delivery
  • Author resource sections for environmental assessments and environmental impact statements with minimal revisions
  • Responsible for peer reviews of each other’s work
  • Lead data gathering and organization efforts with support of senior project manager(s) or senior environmental planner
  • Attend teleconferences and take comprehensive meeting minutes as directed
  • Identify and evaluate environmental planning documents/resources to gather data for written assignments
  • Travel for onsite client meetings as directed
  • May interface with customers independently with project manager approval
  • Other duties as assigned
Education

  • BA or BS Degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with performing audits and inspections, supporting compliance with applicable Federal, state, and local regulatory standards
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience assisting with the preparation of environmental due diligence reports such as Phase I ESAs and EBSs.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulatory standards and programs
  • Knowledge of regulatory program areas, including air emissions, potable water, water pollution control, hazardous materials management, solid and hazardous waste management, storage tank management, and toxic substances control
  • Master’s degree is a plus

Desired Qualifications

  • 3-8 years of relevant professional experience (internship experience will be considered)
  • Ability to quickly read, digest, and write proficiently about environmental issues and impacts
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, communication (verbal and electronic), research, and technical writing skills
  • Department of Defense (DoD) familiarity and/or experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of environmental compliance and permitting programs
  • Computer/software proficiency required (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to work independently in remote environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations and have no criminal record
  • US Citizenship required

  • The US average salary range for this position is between $70,000 to $75,000 and will be based on factors such as experience, education, and location of the employee.

The employee is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicle, prepare and analyze data, and work on computers.
