ASR International Corporation, has an opportunity for a Fire Protection Engineer. The Fire Protection Engineer will provide Design Technical Support (DTS) services to the Planning Design and Construction Directorate (PDC4) of the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC), Pacific area of responsibility. The goal is to provide NAVFAC Pacific PDC4 with increased capability to support Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects.

Perform fire protection engineering for the acquisition of active and passive fire protection systems, this work will include providing:
Analysis/basis
Plans
Specifications
Calculations
Estimates
This work will cover both new and existing facilities, as well as various facility types.
Coordinate with team members to execute project scope, schedules, and budgets in conformance with the project and customer requirements.
Minimize project delays by providing technical review and recommendations when requested within predetermined timeframes.
Research codes, guidance, policies, procedures, processes, criteria, and Federal law and regulations and provide sound technical recommendations both verbally and in writing.
Apply innovative technical principles, practices and theories to the resolution of technical issues.
Coordinate with the Government client, NAVFAC team members, leadership, project stakeholders, and various regulatory agencies.
Coordinate and facilitate meetings, make recommendations based on project requirements, coordinate workflow processes, schedule/coordinate plans of actions and milestones (POAMs) and effectively communicate findings to project personnel.
Ensure compliance with customer and RFP requirements. This will include reviewing technical reports, RFIs, designs, design changes, project deliverables, submittals, cost proposals, and other related engineering documents.
Provide technical support for the review of the commissioning plan, design and construction submittals, construction field activities, and field inspections.
Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. citizen and will be required to obtain a DOD SECRET Clearance.
Must hold a valid, current driver's license.
A Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university (Professional Engineering License is preferred).
Six (6) years of Design Management experience and/or Design experience performing the following tasks:
Performing fire protection engineering including analysis, plans, specifications, calculations and estimates.
Six (6) years of Fire Protection Engineering including experience with one or more of the following fire protection systems:
Water-based fire suppression systems
Standpipe system,
Chemical-based fire suppression system,
Gaseous clean agent fire suppression system,
Fire pump and control system,
Water supply and storage system,
Firefighting access and fire hydrant system,
Advance early warning and conventional fire alarm/detection and mass notification system,
Fire alarm reporting system,
Smoke control/management system,
structural fireproofing system,
firestop system,
national recognized testing laboratory requirements,
life safety and means of egress system,
fire resistance rated construction and opening protective systems,
facility mutual fire exposure protection system,
building code allowable facility size regulations,
electrical hazard classifications
hazardous material/waste protection
life safety power supply system,
marking and illumination of egress system
Demonstrated knowledge of broad-based Engineering principles and specific experience in Fire Protection.
Sound understanding of technical concepts, principles and practices applicable to multi-disciplined engineering project design.
Experience in preparing correspondence, written reports, and in briefing management personnel.
